Awesome Senior Portraits Are Easy With Eli!

The goal with senior sessions is always awesomeness.  That’s the goal.  We reach that goal with awesome seniors which we are fortunate to have here at Frameable Faces, and awesomeness was easy with Eli.  Eli is a cool dude – we like him a lot!  He’s easy to work with, an engaging, funny, smart and good looking kid and he’s a North Farmington Raider just like us.  His mom Elysa came along for the session and she is a pleasure.  They have a great mom/son relationship and we had a blast on a beautiful Michigan fall day!

Easy With Eli…

So yes this session was easy working with Eli, and we started on location at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills.  We had some nice fall colors to work with and we’ll start there with our first photo from the day:

Easy With Eli

Good stuff.

Before we share the rest of our sneak peeks let’s take a look at our behind the scenes fun from the session first with our looping 6 second Vine:

Next we have the extended replay of our live Periscope broadcasts (part on location and part in studio) from our YouTube channel.  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet for your mobile device you can do so and watch our shows at @frameablefaces at this link:

Okay back to the photos with this up close and personal photo of Eli…

Easy With Eli

More good stuff right?

Back to the studio…

At this point it was time to head back to the studio where some real magic happened.  This black and white with Eli in the hoodie is fantastic:

Easy With Eli

And last but not least Eli switched into a suit and tie for the GQ look against our grey background…

Easy With Eli

Nailed it.

And so there you have it – excellence, awesomeness – call it whatever you want but it was all easy with Eli!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with him!

Bringing BAE Back With Bayley Because She’s So Darn Cute!

“BAE” is an acronym/term that is kinda so 2013… and yet we think it’s appropriate to bring it back for this girl for a couple reasons.  For starters her name is BAY-ley, and while she’s not our one and only BAE per se (see what I did there), she is in fact really cute and fun and we fell in love with her (and her mom) the minute they came to the studio.  Actually Bayley came by the studio on her own to set up the meeting to discuss her senior portraits and we were impressed from the start.  So as a general term of endearment we’re running with it – Bay is BAE.  #sorrynotsorry

Bringing BAE Back…

Meanwhile our plan for Bayley’s session took us to Franklin for the second time for the class of 2016.  First to the Franklin Cider Mill and then to a park in Franklin where we found a couple new little treasures.  Just a great day – but before we get to the location photos let’s start in the studio with one photo on the black background.

Bringing BAE Back

Love it!

Now before we head to our location photos we’ll take a look at our fun behind the scenes action from our day – first with a six second looping vine:

Next we have our extended YouTube replay from our live Periscope broadcasts which included Bayley’s mom Kim doing a little guest hosting!  She was awesome!  If you still haven’t downloaded Periscope you can get it and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link:

To Franklin

Meanwhile Bayley’s crew – her entourage – showed up for the last part of her studio photos and they met us in Franklin to be Bayley’s cheering section at the cider mill where we got this great photo of Bayley on one of the bridges there:

Bringing BAE Back

Next we headed to the park and found a little barn there that we hadn’t used before…

Bringing BAE Back

Lastly Bayley broke out her guitar for the end of the session where we grabbed this photo of her relaxing in this little field:

Bringing BAE Back

And there you have it!  We had a great time “bringing BAE back” with Bayley!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

A SNOWY Family Session With Jason, Taryn And Gia!

Those of you who have walked by our studio for the last few years have seen a big canvas of the family we are featuring today, and you may have stopped and said “Hey that’s Jason Carr” or “Hey that’s Taryn Asher” or hey that’s “Jason Carr and Taryn Asher” or “Hey why do these people look familiar?”.  Haha!  It’s a really nice and unique family photo outdoors in late fall with an evergreen tree as a backdrop.  We don’t have too many photos like that, so it serves multiple purposes – a unique and fantastic photo, familiar (and frameable of course) faces to the community that make people stop and smile, and it makes us happy because they are just down to earth cool people.

A SNOWY Family Session…

So when Taryn called and said it was time to get back in for another session with their daughter Gia we got excited – we planned the session and decided on Quarton Lake in Birmingham.  What we didn’t plan on was snow!!!  I told Taryn that the forecast was making me a little nervous because there was supposed to be a snow storm coming, and I didn’t expect her to answer that she loved the idea of a snow session!  So yes indeed – it snowed – hard.  The only real significant snow we’ve had so far this year, and needless to say we now have even more unique photos (hint hint)!  We’ve photographed high school seniors in the snow but this family snow session was a first, and the results are spectacular!  Let’s take a look!

Snowy Family Session

How great is that?  Meanwhile Gia is growing up so fast – she is so smart and cute!

Here’s a closer look:

Snowy Family Session

Before we look at a couple more let’s look at our fun behind the scenes video footage – first of our 6 second looping vine:

Next take a look at the extended replay of our live Periscope broadcast from the session!  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you can do so and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link, and also follow both Taryn and Jason on Facebook because they live stream there and they are fun!

Okay let’s get back to a couple more photos…

Snowy Family Session

This is the pose they used for their holiday card – love the background here too…

And here is one more pose with the tree that we love:

Snowy Family Session

And that will do it for now!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights from our day!  Be sure to catch Jason and Taryn on Fox 2 Detroit – we aren’t just friends – we’re fans!

What A Fun Fall Family Thursday In The Park!

What a fun fall family Thursday in the park we had with Sean, Rebecca and their kids!  We have known Sean for a long time – for Ally going back to elementary school and for me back to high school where we were football teammates, so this was a very cool thing to be spending time with him and his family, not to mention that Rebecca is delightful and the kids are great!

Fall Family Thursday

We decided on Heritage Park as our location in Farmington Hills and we had great conditions on this particular morning.  We have 4 different family poses to share with you in different spots in the park.  They all have their own appeal…  Let’s start on the bench – Sean remarked that this photo makes him look like the king – we said we would photoshop a crown on his head for him – hahaha!!!

Fall Family Thursday

Great looking family!!!

Next we have a candid photo in black and white that tells a little story – we love the way this one came out:

Fall Family Thursday

So fun!

While we’re talking about fun let’s take a look at our behind the scenes footage of the morning – first with our 6 second looping Vine:

And now we have the extended replay of our live Periscope broadcast!  If you haven’t downloaded the Periscope app yet you can do so and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link:

Okay we have two more photos to get to – first of the family sitting and relaxing…

Fall Family Thursday

…and lastly posed on the rocks – how CUTE is the little one loving on her daddy?

Fall Family Thursday

And there you have it!  A fun family Thursday in the park indeed!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our morning with them!

It Is Time To Meet Al and Tarcha’s New Arrival – Nala!

Yes it is time to meet Al and Tarcha’s new arrival – Nala!  We were so excited to meet her!  We have known Al and Tarcha for 5 years now and we have done headshots for Al, his dad, photos for their church in Detroit where Al is a pastor, maternity photos of Tarcha when they were expecting and now finally little Nala!  We have shared plenty of good times with these guys and they have really become friends in addition to being clients.  It is really special for us to see their family growing.

Meanwhile Tarcha’s mom was in town for the session as well so she was able to join in for a couple photos which was great – what a wonderful lady!  Nala was a total champ for this session and we have a few highlights to share with you!

New Arrival

Nala arrived quite early – she apparently couldn’t wait to get out and see the world – but this session coincided with what would have been a week after her scheduled arrival.  We did some photos on the grey fabric and the black fabric.  Let’s start with the grey and with grandma included…

New ArrivalJust so wonderful!

Now let’s narrow down to the happy family unit – just Nala and her parents:

New Arrival

So much love in that picture!!!

Okay now before we switch backdrops let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes footage of the session.  First with our 6 second looping Vine:

Next we have our extended behind the scenes replay of our live Periscope broadcast – those of you who are regular viewers may have seen us introduce “Pastor Al” on a previous broadcast, and if you don’t have Periscope yet you can download it and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link:

Okay now let’s get to the black backdrop for these beautiful photos with Nala first with her mommy…

New Arrival

Just gorgeous.

And lastly we have a matching photo with daddy!

New Arrival

Just in love with this session.

And that will do it for now – we hope you enjoyed celebrating Nala’s new arrival with us!

5 Months Old And Just About Ready For The Holidays!

5 months old is such a fun age – a baby’s personality is just starting to develop at that point and they are just starting to work on sitting up by themselves.  Little Nicholas brought his mommy Michelle to the studio for some photos to get done in time for the holidays so she could get some custom cards to send out, and we had so much fun!!!  Besides, Michelle had a very specific set up in mind to create for a photo she wanted and she even brought in her own lights to make it happen…  We will save that one for last (even though if you arrived here via twitter or facebook you probably saw it already)…

5 Months Old

So let’s get to it and meet Nicholas shall we?  He’s yummy.  First we did some basic photos with a wood floor and a basic tan back drop and Nicholas had his fashion on point with an awesome red bowtie and suspenders!

5 Months Old

He’s awesome.  Let’s take a look at a couple more…

5 Months Old

Love this in black and white and love the wonder in his eyes!

One more with this outfit in color…

5 Months Old

Yay!!!  Love the smile!  And before we look at our final awesome photo let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes footage of the session – first with our 6 second looping Vine where you can see what’s coming:

And next we have the replay of our Periscope broadcast from the session, and if you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you can do so and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link:

And now the coup de grace – how cute is this photo?  This is the cover shot of the holiday card they sent to their friends!

5 Months Old

How great is that?  He’s a snowman!

So there you have it!  5 months old and I’d say Nicholas is just about ready for the holidays wouldn’t you?

Portraits Up North In Harbor Springs With The Hackls!

We drove up to Harbor Springs for a photo session with Cathy Hackl and her family at her in-laws’ place and this was a really special day for multiple reasons.  You see, we met Cathy through Periscope which you have seen and heard us talking about pretty much non-stop since April.  Cathy was one of the first people we met on Periscope – part of the original “Scope Crew”.  She was always so smiley, pleasant and friendly on her broadcasts, and she was also the first person I spoke to offline about a little issue I was having with Facebook at the time.  I simply asked her a question over twitter and 5 minutes later we were on the phone.  We’ve been friends ever since.  Cathy is the real deal – a genuine sweetheart of a person and she has had a very accomplished career in PR and social media, going on eventually to serve as the PR director for the first Periscope Community Summit in New York City back in September!

From Perifriends To Real Life Friends…

Meanwhile, while Cathy is based in Gainesville, Florida her in-laws live up in Harbor Springs, MI, and she has been saying for months that when they come to visit they want to do family portraits.  So we hopped in the car and drove up to Harbor Springs to finally meet Cathy in person and it was like we had known each other in real life all along just as I knew it would be.  We got in late the night before the shoot and stayed with Cathy and her husband Jason with their kids in a rental house they were staying in.  When we woke up we did our morning show with Cathy on Periscope, and here is the link to the replay on our Katch.me page.  So fun!  Check it out…

Next it was time for the portrait session which we did broadcast on Periscope, but outdoors the signal was not the best where we were and the replay quality was very spotty so we don’t have that here.  But we do in fact have some AWESOME photos to share so let’s get to it!

Harbor Springs With The Hackls!

It was indeed a little chilly on this morning but the lighting and the view were both fantastic.  Let’s start with the happy – and expectant (!) – couple!

Harbor Springs

Love the hands together on the soon-to-be-arriving newest member of the family!

Before we bring in the kids let’s take a little look at our fun behind the scenes vine of the proceedings!

Now let’s bring in the kids!  They are SO cute!

Harbor Springs

And now lets take a look at a couple of the sweetest close up photos of these little munchkins!  First the little man….

Harbor Springs

….and now big sister!

Harbor Springs

As a little bonus, Cathy went back to Costa Rica where she is originally from so we had our ordering meeting over Skype!  The best part about Skype ordering meetings is when we share screens we can see our client’s reactions to seeing the slide show for the first time, and the ear-to-ear smile on Cathy’s face is priceless!  Check it out!

So there you have it!  A wonderful experience with the Hackls and we are looking forward to hanging out with Cathy again next month in San Francisco where we’ll be speaking at the second Periscope Community Summit!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day with her!

UPDATE:

Here is a “testimonial takeover” where Cathy did a Periscope broadcast on our channel to our audience to share her experience working with us!

Awestruck By Akwia And Her Awesome Senior Photos!

Awestruck by Akwia is how we felt on the day of her session – softspoken and sweet, athletic and beautiful – she’s got the whole package!  We had a great time hanging out with her as well as her mom and her pup Sophie!  Just a great session overall and we are excited to share a few sneak peeks with you!

Awestruck By Akwia…

We started out on location over by the West Bloomfield Library – one of our favorite spots for natural beauty (not to mention a great library as a side note) and the fall colors were in full swing.  We’ll start on a trail where you’ll see a nice pop of “Pure Michigan” orange in the distance to compliment Akwia in this lovely red dress.

Awestruck

Beautiful!

Before we look at more photos let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes footage from our day.  First we have our fun 6 second looping Vine where you’ll see Sophie getting into the action and a little studio fire:

Next we have the extended replays of our Periscope broadcasts from the session for those who want to see a little more behind the scenes.  They are linked together (location and studio).  If you still haven’t downloaded Periscope you can follow us at @frameablefaces and do so at this link.

Okay now let’s get back to the photos including this one with Akwia and Sophie!

Awestruck

Fun!

Back To The Studio…

Let’s now head back to the studio where we “turned the heat up” with a little fire in a photo that provides a little contrast of the glamour and the grit!

Awestruck

And now we’ll leave you with more of a close up that is just simply Akwia and we love it!

Awestruck

And there it is – you can now see why we are awestruck right?  Congrats to Akwia – she rocked this session and we hope you all enjoyed the highlights!

Love Was In The Air For Alex And Rachel’s Engagement Session!

Love was in the air – well actually it’s in these portraits we’re about to share with you of our cousin Alex and his wonderful fiancé Rachel!  This is yet another portrait session that lands in the category of the surreal since Ally can remember when Alex was born and I came on the scene not a whole lot later than that.  It’s one thing to be photographing seniors whom we’ve known since birth, it’s another to be photographing engagement photos for this guy.  Keep in mind that we did Alex’s senior portraits too, so officially he’s the first Frameable Faces senior to also have his engagement photos done by us!

Love Was In The Air

This session was totally on location at one of our favorite spots and we had a perfect day – perfect lighting and perfect scene overall.  Let’s take a look at a couple sneak peeks shall we?

Love Was In The Air

You can tell how happy they are – happiness just leaps right off the screen!

Before we check out the rest of the photos let’s take a look at the behind the scenes action from the session – first with our fun 6 second looping vine which is actually quite hilarious:

Next let’s go behind the scenes for our extended Periscope broadcast replay from our YouTube channel!  If you aren’t using Periscope yet and want to follow us there on your smartphone or tablet you can download the app and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link:

Okay now let’s get back to a few more awesome photos!

Love Was In The Air

How great are these pictures?  We need to do more engagement sessions…. hehe

Love Was In The Air

We love that one….

Okay we’ll leave you with one more fun photo with a little fall “Pure Michigan” pop of color in the background:

Love Was In The Air

And there it is!  Love was definitely in the air with Alex and Rachel and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with them!

We Are Lovin’ A Little Bit Of Lauren’s Senior Portraits!

A little bit of Lauren is all we need to show you to see how great she is.  She’s nice and she’s pretty and that’s what her session was – just nice and pretty in the studio.  We’ve always maintained that while the majority of our sessions are a combo of location and studio, we also love the sessions that are just one or the other!  Studio sessions are just chilled and relaxed and Lauren was here with her mom Dawn for hers.  We had fun!

A Little Bit Of Lauren

So let’s get to a few highlights of our time here at Frameable Faces with this girl…  We’ll start off on the black background with a nice and simple photo with a closer crop.  Meet Lauren!

A Little Bit

Next we turned on the fan for our “black and blowy” shot that we love and it was perfect for Lauren – take a look:

A Little Bit

LOVE that photo!

Okay before we switch it up let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes footage of our time with Lauren.  First with our 6 second looping vine:

Next we have the extended replay of our Periscope broadcast from our YouTube channel.  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet for your smartphone or tablet you are truly missing out and you can get it and follow us at @frameablefaces at this link.

Now let’s get back to a couple more photos as we change it up first to the grey backdrop with another closeup:

A Little Bit

And now we will leave you with a photo of Lauren on our red Victorian style couch with the red paper backdrop and the wooden flooring that turned out really well!

A Little Bit

And there you have it!  A little bit of Lauren for you which we are lovin’!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from her session!
