Sahana’s Senior Session Is Pure Sunshine And Splendor!

Sahana’s senior session was pure sunshine and splendor and it comes as no surprise – we have known Sahana for years and we had been looking forward to the day when we would have her here as a senior!  She is a sweetheart and a talented violinist to boot.  We also love when we have the chance to photograph traditional clothing – in this case an Indian half saree which is so colorful!  So we have studio, sunshine, and certainly splendor so let’s get to it!

Sahana’s Senior Session…

Sahana’s mom Sandya came along for the session and she is wonderful too so we were in for a great day.  We started in the studio and went with a couple different outfits and backdrops.  We’ll start with the black background:

Sahana's Senior Session

Beautiful – and we haven’t even gotten to the “sunshine and splendor” yet!  Haha…

We also have plenty of behind the scenes fun from the live broadcasts we did that day.  First our Periscope broadcast from the studio – if you want to be a part of our shows you can download the twitter-owned app and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link, or if you just want to watch from twitter you can follow us here:

Here’s one more photo from the studio on the white backdrop – loving the ripped white jeans on white look!

Sahana's Senior Session

And here is the Facebook Live broadcast from the studio before we head out on location…  🙂

Now it’s time to head out for the:

Pure Sunshine And Splendor!

First we have this wonderful close up – the conditions and the lighting were just right and Ally captured this gorgeous shot of Sahana!  Love that bit of backlight on her hair!

Sahana's Senior Session

We also had some fun with another broadcast outdoors on Periscope while Sahana was in the outfit above:

….and last but not least we have the colorful splendor of the traditional Indian half saree for this wonderful photo!!!

Sahana's Senior Session

So there you have it!  The pure sunshine and splendor of Sahana’s senior session!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!

Elizabeth Elicits Oohs and Aahs On Her Senior Session!

We’ve known Elizabeth a long time going back to elementary school days with our daughter and we hadn’t really “hung out” with her in a while.  We’ve seen her around town sure but this was so much fun on so many levels – for starters when she came in for her consultation we were struck by how grown up she had become and how much she sounded like her mom Lorie!  So cute – totally like a mini Lorie.  She’s a sharp cookie and an athlete – the girl has it all, and we knew this would be a fun session.  You’ll see below as Elizabeth elicits oohs and aahs!

Then, when she showed up the day of her session made up and ready to roll she looked beautiful!  That’s where the oohs and aahs started (haha).  And what was really cool was with their busy schedules it worked out better for her dad Adam to come to the session and we really had a great time.  Conditions were great and so off we went!

Elizabeth Elicits Oohs and Aahs…

We started in the studio and did a little shooting on the black background with our “black and blowy” setup – this is a great one to start with:

Elizabeth Elicits

Great huh?

Meanwhile here is the first of some behind the scenes broadcasts we did during our day – this one is from Periscope and you can follow us and be a part of the broadcasts at this link or you can just watch from twitter as well by following us there at this link:

Now as we get set to head outdoors for some location photos let’s have a little fun with the Snap story we posted that day on Snapchat!

Now it’s time to head outside for the location part of the session, and here we’ll give a little shout out on the makeup by Francie Paull Fruitman!

Elizabeth Elicits

Love the meadow photo…

As you see from the title of the second Periscope we were out there in the “golden hour” when the sun is going down and the lighting is amazing… and we have that little pop of fall color that we love!

Elizabeth Elicits

We also have a little more behind the scenes action too from Facebook!

And we’ll leave you with this last photo from the session…

Elizabeth Elicits

So we were happy to share and have Elizabeth elicit more oohs and aahs from you all!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights from our day with her!

Doing The Dew In The D With Jayson and a Few Murals!!!

When you do a senior session and you also dew the session, and you dew Detroit, and you do cool stuff with a cool dude named Jayson, then you know you’re really do(dew)ing it well!  Doo be doo be doo and da doo doo doo da dah dah dah….  okay let’s not get carried away with the play on words here.  Focus Doug.

The fact of the matter here is Jayson is a cool dude and we had a colorful session with him in Detroit.  There are murals all over the place down there if you know where to look, and if you throw in a little Mountain Dew pop art logo tee (and a random cabbage – that’s an inside joke from the session) then you come up with photo gold and the colors just pop all over the place.

Doing The D With Jayson…

Detroit was the plan for Jayson and his mom Korlyn came with – this was our second time with Korlyn on a shoot after our awesome shoot with Jayson’s brother Riley and we knew this would be a fun day.  We started out on Belle Isle for this black and white photo…

Jayson

Love the occasional black and white for that timeless quality!

We also have plenty of behind the scenes action to share – we’ll start with the Facebook Live broadcast we did from Belle Isle!

Next we went “mural-ing” I guess you could say.  We found some great stuff over in The Belt to start with, and this is where Jayson was “Doin the Dew”:

Jayson

Lookin’ good!!!

Now we have the link (there was an error in tweeting it for some reason) to the Periscope broadcast we did in Detroit.  You can follow us while you’re there and join in the shows in the future to be a part of the fun!

Here’s another one from downtown before we headed back to the studio:

Jayson

Love it.

After a little lunch down by the Wayne State campus with older brother Riley joining us we headed back to the studio.  We also did a Periscope broadcast in the studio and what was cool about this one is we did it on our show “The Photo Shop” which airs on @ParachuteTV1 every Tuesday at 2PM EST UTC-4!  ParachuteTV was the very first network on Periscope and you can check the programming schedule at the website here.

And we’ll leave you with a photo of Jayson from the studio…

Jayson

Love the blue!  And there you have it!  Doin the D as in Detroit made for a great day with Jay and we hope you enjoyed the highlights!

Transformation Tuesday Senior Session Post Starring Ian!

So this isn’t exactly the traditional Transformation Tuesday type of thing you might be used to when you see a Transformation Tuesday.  But it happens to be Tuesday as I’m writing this, and we saw our own transformation starring Ian, so I’m going with it.  The fact of the matter is when Ian came in for his consultation he seemed relatively shy and quiet.  Granted he didn’t know us and might not have been completely sure of what he was getting into with senior pictures, so it’s totally understandable.  But when we tell you that the guy who showed up for the photo shoot didn’t seem like the same dude we’re not kidding.  A self assured ready-to-roll stud showed up that day and he kicked ass.  Sorry (not sorry) for the pseudo profanity but that’s the only way to accurately describe it.

Starring Ian…

So let’s get to the photos which include some studio work as well as some on location – studio first.

Starring Ian

So, not to be cheesy but seriously – you can see it in his eyes.  Confidence.

And now how about a little behind the scenes fun?  First with our little 6 second vine overview…

And here we have the replay of our live Periscope broadcast from the studio.  If you aren’t following us on Periscope and would like to tune in and be a part of the show in the live chat you can do it here, and if you just want to watch from twitter you can do that here!

And here’s another studio photo for you this time in black and white…

Starring Ian

Heading Out…

At this point we headed out to our location portion of the session and we dodged a couple raindrops but it was all good.  We’ll start with this cool photo on the West Bloomfield trail network:

Starring Ian

Ian is rockin’ it as you can see…

We also have another Periscope replay from on location:

And we’ll finish with one more close up photo of our guy:

Starring Ian

So there it is – you didn’t see the “transformation” part but we did and it was really cool.  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day starring Ian!

Getting Acquainted With Anabel On Her Senior Session!

Getting acquainted with Anabel was definitely something we would recommend!  This girl definitely has personality, style and flair and just the right sprinkling of snark to make us laugh!  Her mom Cindy and her little sis Eliza both came along for the day and we had perfect sunny weather.  Anabel is a drama queen too – no not that kind of drama queen – she’s a tech in the drama department at her school!  The girl has skills.  We had a solid game plan to do a bit in the studio including the yearbook shot before we headed out to get some nature themed photos, so let’s start in the studio…

Getting Acquainted With Anabel

We used our red couch / black background set up indoors which is always a winner!

Anabel How great are the cowboy boots with the denim?  We stuck with this theme on location too which you’ll see in a sec, but before we do that let’s look at some of the behind the scenes fun from the day!  First with our 6 second looping vine:

Next we have the replays of our Periscope broadcasts which are a lot of fun – and they’re even more fun to watch and be a part of live which you can do from your smartphone by downloading the app and following us at @frameablefaces here.  You can also watch from twitter here.

First in the studio…

….and then on location!

Now let’s get back to the photos on location!

This photo is a first – it’s the first time we’ve brought this particular chair on location and Anabel looks fantastic in it outside with perfect lighting on her hair!

Anabel

Next we have our girl on a bridge – one of our more secluded spots we don’t get to very often…

Anabel

And lastly we have a pensive Anabel with another wardrobe change in front of the stone wall…

Anabel

And there you have it – now you are acquainted with Anabel too!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

Leah Left A Lasting Impression On Her Senior Session!

Leah left a lasting impression on her senior session for sure, but we didn’t really doubt that would be the case.  Leah is a character and with her gorgeous curly red hair she’s impossible to forget!  We’ve known Leah for a long time too so this was one of those many surreal senior sessions we have here with seniors we’ve known since they were little.  Aside from the yearbook headshot this was an entirely on location session and we had a great day for it.  The summer has been hot but the visuals have been beautiful.  Leah’s mom Laynie came with us just like she did a few years back for Leah’s older sister Sara’s session and we had fun once again!  So on that note, let’s get to some photos!

Leah Left A Lasting Impression…

Our first spot was one that Leah suggested and one we had never photographed before!  There are always new spots to find, and this one was so cool because it was a pond literally covered with a sheet of green algae…  take a look!

Lasting Impression

What a cool backdrop it makes and the lighting on Leah’s hair is awesome!

Before we head to our next location let’s look at some of the behind the scenes fun from our day – first with our 6 second looping Vine:

As an added bonus here is the link to the little Snapchat story we did which is notable for the “beautiful” graphic I dropped in perfectly at the end of the clip of Leah playing guitar.  Don’t ask me exactly how I did it because I’m not quite sure…  lol.

Next we have the replays of the live Periscope / Twitter broadcasts from our day for your extended viewing.  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet and want to be a part of our community there you can do that at this link.  You can follow and see Periscopes on Twitter too at this link.

First we have the “bog scope”…

Next we have the scope from behind the West Bloomfield library…

Okay so let’s get to a few more photos!

This is our second location where we have Leah breaking out her guitar against the barn… love this!

Lasting Impression

Here’s one at the same spot but with a stone background….

Lasting Impression

And one more with Leah surrounded by (and adding to) the natural beauty!

Lasting Impression

And now you see why Leah left such a lasting impression indeed!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!

This Bold Business of Being Brandon Has Its Benefits!

The bold business of being Brandon ain’t so bad.  It’s actually a pretty good gig – goes to a great school and plays in the marching band there, great parents, a brother, a dog….  and he’s a good dude!  On top of all that he was totally psyched for some photography fun for his senior pictures.  He was totally prepared which is a great way to be.  He dropped off some things at the studio the day before (he has the advantage of being a West Bloomfield Laker and he lives close by) and we had a great game plan.  We started on location in Birmingham with an earlier start than originally planned based on the weather forecast since we needed to beat some rain… so we’ll start there.

Bold Business

Our first spot was on the industrial side of town – bold and edgy!  Brandon’s mom Suzanne came along too and she is a delight!  She was helpful as Brandon’s assistant too – see?  Benefits!  Hehe…

Bold Business

Good look on that kid!  Love the grungy spot.

Next we turned to a bit of a more upscale scene – love the scope of this photo – Brandon in the city!

Bold BusinessAt this point we started to feel raindrops, so our timing was perfect – just as we were wrapping up in Birmingham…  At this point it was time to head back to the studio, but before we do that let’s take a look at a little behind the scenes action from the day.  First we have our Vine for your 6 second looping pleasure:

Next we have the extended replays of the live Periscope broadcasts from the session!  You can follow our broadcasts live on Periscope at this link or on Twitter as well!  First the location broadcast:

And now back in the studio…

Being Brandon

So here are a couple of great photos from the studio – first with a casual look reppin’ the WBHS!

Bold Business

And last but not least, the formal shot… all GQ like…

Bold Business

And there you have it!  Bold business indeed being Brandon, and it ain’t so bad!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights from our day!

Doug’s Amateur 2017 Spokesmodel Panoramas!

I am NOT a professional photographer.  Let’s get that straight – and I will not be any time soon.  I have always loved photography, always had a camera and have always had a nice amateur eye.  So being in the photography business with my amazing professional photographer wife Ally has given me a chance to be involved in it, and to play around with the behind the scenes photos when I’m creating content to promote what we do.

iPhoneography…

Meanwhile the cameras on iPhones and smartphones in general have become better and better – the quality is quite amazing for everyday amateur use and the tools and filters let you have a lot of fun.  We’ve always said that the more people appreciate everyday photography the more they will appreciate professional photography, and we embrace the technology and use it to highlight the photos we take for our clients.

To that end I’ve become fond of the Panorama option on the iPhone, and I made sure to grab a pano of each spokesmodel session for the class of 2017.  I thought maybe these could make a fun blog post and so here we go…..!  These are unfiltered by the way with the exception of Ally brightening one or two of them.

2017 Spokesmodel Panoramas!

2017 Spokesmodel Panoramas

Lily

With Lily we went to Heritage Park in Farmington Hills and I got Ally here in action with Lily under this pretty trellis.

Haven

Haven rocked it in the studio on this purple background with the light wood floor – I got up high for this angle…

2017 Spokesmodel Panoramas

Aria and Maya

Aria and Maya go back to back in downtown Detroit with the awesome murals of “The Belt“.

Kinda neat huh?  We hope you enjoyed these class of 2017 spokesmodel panoramas!  Let us know what you think!

A Little Bit Of Ilyssa & Lots Of Fab On Her Spokesmodel Session!

Ilyssa has never been afraid to go after what she wants.  When she was three she decided that our Lacey should be her friend and she made it happen.  She brought our families together in doing so and we’ve been friends ever since – going on 14 years!  So this was another of those surreal sessions that we have with family or long time friends and it was quite fab indeed.  “Lissy’s” older sister Rachel was also a spokesmodel for us a few years ago so this is the second time around with these guys… but as a crew they’ve been in here every holiday season for their holiday cards so this was a familiar scene!

Ilyssa & Lots of Fab…

We started out in the studio on a day we weren’t so sure about – unseasonably cold and potential rain…  We broke out the damask pattern for the first shot and we love the hat – hats are way underrated for girls – they almost never fail!

Ilyssa

She looks amazing!

At this point we noticed that there was much more light coming in through the center court skylights than we thought – so we made the snap decision to go on location to Pontiac right then and there.  It was really cold but the lighting was pretty good and it was dry so we went with it…

Ilyssa

We spotted this doorway and combined with Lissy’s dress it was a total winner!  Love the blue on blue!!!

Before we show our last two sneak peeks let’s see our fun behind the scenes footage from our day!  First with our fun 6 second looping vine:

Next we have the replays of our Periscope broadcasts which are always fun from our YouTube channel.  Subscribe to us there and follow us on Periscope at @frameablefaces!  You can download the app at this link.

Okay let’s get back to a couple more sneak peeks!

Ilyssa had an outfit change on location and we got this cool shot on this staircase…

Ilyssa

Now if you remember we kinda raced out to the location when the weather appeared to break, but we still had some studio work to do, so back to the studio we went to wrap it up on the black background…

Ilyssa

Oh – hey beautiful!  Love the shades.

And that will do it for now!!!  A little bit of Ilyssa and a whole lot of fab!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!

A Frameable Day Starting in Detroit & Ending in Birmingham!

We had a fun and Frameable day two days ago that started in downtown Detroit and finished up at Social Kitchen and Bar in Birmingham!  It was such a great day that we just had to pop onto the blog and talk about it!

Class of 2017 spokesmodel season in full swing

We headed out with two new spokesmodels from the class of 2017 to get some photos in Detroit and it was an epic day with Aria and Maya along with their moms and Aria’s little sister Sedona, complete with burgers for lunch in Corktown at the Mercury Bar.  We spent some time photographing the girls at The Belt Alley which was our first time doing a session there.  We will have plenty more to come from the session but here’s a little behind the scenes fisheye shot made with my iPhone and an Ollo Clip.

Frameable Day

Frameable Day

After we finished our day we had dinner plans with some friends at Social Kitchen and Bar in Birmingham.  We had been meaning to get there for some time since we had heard nothing but great things about it and the owners are clients of ours with a current class of 2016 senior – Cooper.  Let’s just say all the great things we heard were true.  The food and the drinks were amazing – Ally got the sea bass and I got the short rib French dip sandwich.  I also had a Social Mule to drink which was amazing….  and speaking of drinks, the bartenders were former seniors of ours!!!  Mark and David from the class of 2012!  We hadn’t seen them in a while and David’s name had just come up in conversation recently…  Crazy!

Here are a couple of photos from their sessions which were both done in Birmingham:

First Mark – this was the original fence shot we did…  Hard to believe these two sessions took place over 4 years ago already…

Frameable Day

Next David – a night time shot using off-camera flash with the rain starting to fall…

Frameable Day

And here we are with them the other night!!!

Frameable Day

With former Senior Friends Mark and David at Social in Birmingham!

So much fun!  Great weather, great city, great spokesmodels, great food, and a great little reunion!  A truly FRAMEABLE DAY!!!
