Emma Emanates Awesomeness On Her Spokesmodel Session!

Emma emanates awesomeness – plenty of it in fact in these photos from her spokesmodel session!  But first before we get to them can we talk?  Emma followed us and we followed back on Instagram a year or two ago and we admired this beautiful and talented dancer from afar for a while before we ever met her.  She was definitely on our radar for representing our studio and we needed someone at West Bloomfield High School so we invited her over with her mom to meet.  We fell for her the moment she walked in!  She’s just one of those people who lights up a room when she enters it.  She’s funny, cool, smart, talented and nice – just the total package, and her mom is great too so we were excited to get her on board!

Oops I Did It Again…

So this may sound familiar, but with the last spokesmodel, Chase, we forgot Reflecto when we left and had to go back to get him.  Well this time we made a car swap in the morning and I forgot the camera was in the other car….  UGH.  We had to go back for the camera, and of course Reflecto was ready to tweet about it again.

Emma Emanates…

Okay now let’s get to the photos!  Our first photo is the second to feature a spokesmodel with a headband of some sort in the current class, and we love the look!

Emma Emanates

Next we headed over to one of our favorite outdoor props for this photo…

Emma Emanates

Ally had trouble narrowing down photos from Emma’s session because she was able to hold poses so perfectly.  This session was a first for us as well because we broadcast portions of it live on Periscope.  It was really cool – one of our other spokesmodels tuned in to see what we were up to along with viewers in Paris, Italy, and Great Britain!  I used a piece of the broadcast for our behind the scenes vine which I shared on my last blog post about Periscope.  If you don’t know what it is my article will provide all you need to know so far.

As it turned out if we hadn’t had our little camera delay we likely wouldn’t have met Gordie – that fun pup who jumped in for a couple shots.  We found out that he did some modeling of his own back in his day!

Back to the studio

As you can see in the vine we used our new red background which we are loving so far.  Here’s a photo with the red:

Emma Emanates

Lastly we’ll finish with Emma in this fun hat in black and white – love this one!

Emma Emanates

So there you have it!  Emma emanates awesomeness!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights and we are looking forward to getting her in front of Ally’s camera again later this year!

Keyaira Was Killin’ It On Her Photo Shoot!

Keyaira was killin’ it indeed on her high school senior session and we are excited to show these photos!  We have some wonderful Spring seniors coming in from the soon-to-be-graduating class of 2015 and Keyaira and her mom Nichole were absolutely delightful, and before we get to her pictures I have to share this little side story because it’s just so typical of how we roll here and what makes it fun to meet and get to know our clients…

We met with Keyaira and Nichole on March 14th for their consultation which we do with all of our seniors – it’s really important for us to get to know our seniors ahead of time and plan their session with them so we can capture who they really are.  It’s not uncommon for the conversation to turn to food either especially if we discover any sort of ethnic background in their history.  Everybody is from somewhere but when it comes to food we’ve had Peruvian and Indian clients help us discover some amazing cuisine for example (there is another blog post coming about all of this by the way), and in Keyaira’s case there is some Mexican background among others in the family.  We thought we had our fave Mexican joint nailed down already in Taqueria San Jose in Waterford, but they told us about Jalapeńos in Pontiac and we ended up eating there twice by the time we saw them again only 10 days later at Keyaira’s session on the 24th!  YUM!!!

Okay, now that we’ve covered taste, let’s get to sight!  Keyaira’s session!

Keyaira

As I mentioned in the last couple posts we had a couple seniors coming up that would be all indoors and all outdoors.  Keyaira had a beautiful sunny day for her outdoor session and she looked fantastic!

Keyaira

Okay, we love the above photo – Keyaira looks relaxed, the backlight and breeze on her hair is great and she her smile is beautiful!

Here is the fun behind the scenes vine of our day:

Next it was time to get some city shots…

Keyaira

Love that color on her!  Let’s look at one more…

Keyaira

You would have to agree that Keyaira was killin’ it right?  She sure was.  We hope you enjoyed these highlights of her session!

Class of 2016 Spokesmodels – Off And Running With Rachel!

Yes it’s that time of the year again when we start preparing for the upcoming class of 2016 senior photo season with highlights of our awesome new spokesmodels!  This is always a very exciting time for us as we enter into these new relationships with these impressive young future leaders as they inspire us and make us laugh.  Making new friends is the best part of what we do and our new roster is shaping up to be another wonderful crew.  While this winter may not be quite as brutal as last year’s was, it’s been pretty cold lately so we’ll probably be starting off with a lot of studio work which is fine since we had to replace some backdrops that we lost in the “great Frameable Faces flood of 2015”.

Meanwhile Rachel is the first spokesmodel we would like to share photos of with you and the only one we photographed before the flood hit us.  She’s a West Bloomfield Laker and she’s great – she’s a dancer, she’s on the pom team and she’s just a cool girl all around.  We’re happy to kick it off with her, so without further adieu here we go – off and running with Rachel for 2016!

First we started with our black background which we played around with a bit – the blowy, a couple outfits and we’re going to start off with this soft black and white shot with this cute headband. Running With RachelRachel looked great and with her we focused mainly on just her – simple, solid colors, a variety of outfits and Rachel’s smile.  Now would probably be a good time for a shout out to Gloria at The Beauty Lounge for the makeup!  Let’s look at the brown background next:

Running With Rachel

This is a great combo for her skin tone, hair and the maroon and beige colors.  As we did last year we are continuing with our fun behind the scenes vines of our sessions and here is Rachel’s:

Let’s move to the blue that you see in the vine next… the different colors seem to bring out different shades of color in her beautiful eyes!

Running With Rachel

And lastly we broke out the red and we love the way Rachel was engaging with the camera at this point in the session – really owning it!

Running With Rachel

So there it is, and yes we’re off and running with a new class of spokesmodels – off and running with Rachel!  Stay tuned as we introduce you to the rest of our crew one by one over the next couple of months as we lead into the new senior class!

We Just Couldn’t Wait….To Show You Kait(lin)!

We just couldn’t wait to show you the highlights from Kaitlin’s senior session!  The plan actually was to wait because we’re not done!  We covered a lot of ground on part one of her session but we left a little time to grab a few winter shots when the snow comes so this session is to be continued.  However the same way money burns holes in people’s pockets these photos are burning holes on our Macs and they basically fell into the blog because they’re too good.  It’s pretty much beyond our control.  Kaitlin is a total star and she’s a cool girl to boot!  So without further adieu, let’s take a look!

First we went with the cosmopolitan look which is perfect for this girl.  These shots in the city brought a few looks from the paparazzi around!

Just Couldn't Wait

And now you see why!  Kaitlin just owned this sidewalk – or is it a runway….?

Just Couldn't Wait

What’s really unique about that shot above is the metro look but with the pretty fall colors framing our senior.  So cool!

Next we made a quick stop at the park to get a natural shot before we headed back to the studio and here we get to see Kaitlin’s winning smile in this playful photo!

Just Couldn't Wait

Here is our fun behind the scenes vine of the afternoon:

Lastly we stopped back at the studio for a few on the black background and well, this black and blowy shot is just spectacular…

Just Couldn't Wait

Enough said right?  The best part is that we will still get to photograph her again in the snow!  She’s a delight and now you know why we just couldn’t wait to show you Kait(lin)!  Ha!  We hope you enjoyed these sneak peeks from her session!

Jacob’s Senior Session Was Sweet In More Ways Than One!

Jacob’s senior session was sweet in more ways than one and we’ll be returning to the sweet theme frequently as we tell the tale of our day with him!  For starters he’s a sweet guy and he loves to laugh.  We all had each other cracking up for much of his session!  Jacob has a great sense of humor and we weren’t surprised since we know the family – Ally is related to them and they are great people!  We photographed Jacob’s older sister Shaina a couple years ago for her senior pictures so we were excited to photograph Jacob.

We started on location with Jacob and his mom at the Franklin Cider Mill which is a fun (and tasty) place to shoot!  We shoot there a couple times per year and of course we got some sweet cider and donuts while we were there – more sweetness!  There are a couple of cool bridges there which we used for this shot…

Session Was Sweet

Handsome guy right?  The lighting was really nice too!  Here is one more shot from the cider mill:

Session Was Sweet

Next let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes vine from the day!

Now here is where the session really took a sweet turn!  Often with our seniors at some point in their session we do a themed shot if there is something that really defines them, or if we want to recreate a fun photo from their childhood, or any type of extracurricular activity – some of these get really fun and creative!  In Jacob’s case we called ahead to Plum Market to see if we could take a photo in front of their Godiva chocolate display and they said sure!  Like I said – here’s where things get really sweet!  Haha!

Session Was Sweet

At this point it was time to head back to the studio and we’ll leave you with this awesome shot on the blue – love the cool scarf!

Session Was Sweet

So as you can see this session was certainly sweet in more ways than one!  Sweet guy, sweet cider and donuts, sweet chocolate – life should always be so sweet!

We Love Twin Sister Seniors! First Up: Nikki!

We love twin sister seniors!  What’s not to love?  There is just something nice about twins in general – they have a bond that the rest of us who aren’t twins may not totally understand, but it’s fun to watch on a day when we can be a part of something special like their senior pictures!  But it doesn’t end there… for these girls it was extra special because we did dance pictures for them for years when they were younger, so it’s really neat to see them so grown up!

We started in the studio so let’s start with a photo of Nikki on the black background…

twin sister seniors

Adorable right?  We didn’t spend a ton of time in the studio and from here on out we’ll look at some highlights of the location photos.  We think oranges, maroons and earth tones in general look nice when the fall colors are in full effect in Michigan and we love Nikki in the orange in this photo:   twin sister seniors

Let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes vine of Nikki from the day!  You’ll notice that we posted Nikki’s vine second, but we flipped it for the blog posts…  haha!

We actually found a new trail that we hadn’t used before on this session that we named for the girls (constant readers you know that’s how we roll) and we found perfect twin trees there for them!  Take a look at this shot of Nikki and Lindsay together – love this!

twin sister seniors

Now back to Nikki – we have two more to show you on a bridge that you’ve probably seen on this blog before…

twin sister seniors

And one more – this time a full length of Nikki just being cute in the other direction…

twin sister seniors

So there you have it – so this is “part one” and the plan is to bring you “part two” tomorrow, so be sure to check back and see Lindsay’s post!

No Sun? No Problem For Sara’s Superb Session!

Sara had a great session here recently on an afternoon that gave us a completely overcast sky.  Logic might tell you that you want “nice” weather outside for senior pictures with lots of sunshine, but we promise we are not just trying to make our seniors feel better when we say overcast skies are perfect for shooting!  When the light is not coming from just one direction than you can photograph in any direction and choose any angle you like!  Diffused light is great light, and that’s what we had for Sara.  So, no sun?  No problem!

We’ll get to the outdoor stuff in a sec, but first let’s take a peak at a studio shot we did on the black background.  This is our black and blowy setup, and even though her hair isn’t totally “blowy” it’s only because of her beautiful thick curls, and don’t her eyes look incredible?  This would be a good time to give a shout out to Shifra Raskin whose studio is right down the hall from us for the wonderful job on Sara’s makeup.

no sun no problem

Next it was time to head outside where Sara’s mom met us for the location shoot.  Sara’s mom is funny, and we also have to mention that Sara is clearly well liked because on at least two separate occasions around the time of her session when telling someone we were photographing her the response was “Oh I LOVE Sara!!!”

no sun no problem

As you are starting to see with these October photos we are starting to get a lot more fall colors and we had some here for Sara!  You would never know it was a “dreary” day – the setting looks great, the lighting looks great, and Sara looks great!  This ground level bridge is a nice little recent find as well…

no sun no problem

Here is our fun behind the scenes vine of the afternoon!

And lastly we’ll leave you with this one – the beautiful fall orange and the beautiful eyes…

no sun no problem

So there it is!  We had a great day with Sara – and as we said, no sun?  No problem!

Alison Appears In Our “Brand New” Meadow!

We have mentioned that lately we have had some great success exploring brand new locations for senior sessions…  Granted they aren’t “brand new” exactly – certainly they were there for some time, but they certainly are new to us and they have us so excited!!!  We have found at least five new trails off the top of our heads in parks that we’ve been to plenty of times before, and they’ve led to great new streams, trees, and bridges.  But maybe the best find so far was Alison’s meadow – it was right under our nose and we never knew it.  More on that in a sec…

First let’s talk about Alison.  What a nice girl – beautiful inside and out.  Her mom came with us on the session and we really enjoyed them both!  We focused most of her session on location which we will highlight here.  First we went to a trail that we’ve used before where the fall colors were starting to pop.

meadow

Alison looks great here!  Now you can’t quite see it in the photo above, but a little further along that path it goes uphill a bit, and we thought we would take a little walk to see what was over the ridge…    Well lo and behold it opened up into a huge multicolored meadow that took our breath away!  Since she was the first one in the meadow we’ll now call it “Alison’s meadow” which is how we roll here at Frameable Faces.  🙂

meadow

Wow right???  Here is our behind the scenes vine from the session where you can get a glimpse of how much fun we were having…

As a little sidebar we even came across this big snapping turtle hanging out on the side of the trail!  I took a quick photo with my iPhone…

snapping turtle

Beyond the meadow there were more trails and a random bench that we took advantage of for this next one…

meadow

So pretty!  We’ll leave you with this last one with a little water in the background.  Love the fall colors reflecting in the water, and love Alison’s relaxed pose in the grass…

Yes – this was a spectacular session we have to say, and we’re glad we got to experience the new location with Alison and her mom!

A “Senior Session Rhapsody” With Raina!

Screenshot 2014-10-22 09.29.43

The word “rhapsody” works on several levels for Raina’s outstanding senior session!  Let’s count a few of the ways shall we?

  1. The idea of photographing Raina once we met this sweetheart and her mom was “music to our ears”
  2. She can play a rhapsody on her cello which she included in her session (as a former cello player myself this made her session extra special for me).
  3. Photos aren’t “written or spoken” per se but they can certainly be an expression of “great enthusiasm, praise, etc.” and we have great enthusiasm for Raina’s session!

So yes, we think it’s appropriate to present a few highlights from what we are calling a “senior session rhapsody” with Raina!

We started in the studio on the black background with our “black and blowy” setup that we love:

senior session rhapsody

We love the black and white stripes of her blouse against the black background, and her eyes look amazing!

Next we headed outside and we captured some shots in the park as well as in the city.  Let’s look at a photo from the park first…

senior session rhapsody

Beautiful right?  Now let’s take a look at our fun behind the scenes vine where the cello makes an appearance!

Next it was time to head to the city for a cosmopolitan look – Raina looked at ease in all the settings!

senior session rhapsody

And finally the grand finale with the cello!  Love this photo with the fountain in the background!

senior session rhapsody

So there you have it!  Our senior session rhapsody with Raina!  We really enjoyed our time with Raina and her mom and we finished it off with a group hug!  We hope you enjoyed these photos from such a wonderful afternoon!

How Do We Spell Style? J-O-R-D-A-N Of Course!

Photographing a guy who can rock a session like Jordan is a treat.  What a great kid.  And apparently the rest of the world shares our opinion because Jordan seems to know everyone around here and everyone knows him!  We knew this was going to be a good photo shoot and his mom came along to hang with us for the afternoon.  We had a blast.  The guy knows fashion, knows how to pose and has a great look so the session really came together nicely.  This is not totally by accident either since Jordan is considering a career in fashion.  So when asked how we spell style around here we’ll just answer J-O-R-D-A-N from now on!

First we started in the studio for one of several GQ looks that we love with the suit and tie this time on the black background…

We Spell Style

Then after some additional studio work we headed outside for what turned out to be a perfect fall day.  We went mostly for the natural look and we started out with this pathway through one of the meadows that we love:

We Spell Style

Here is our fun behind the scenes three part vine from the day!

Next we headed over to one of our favorite bridges for this one…

We Spell Style

Catalogue material right?  The boy knows how to dress and how to pose.  This last photo is a unique one with the hoodie and Jordan standing in the road – we love this.

We Spell Style

So how do we spell style again?  Oh yeah – J-O-R-D-A-N!  And now you know why.  We hope you enjoyed these sneak peeks from his outstanding senior session!  We certainly enjoyed our afternoon with Jordan!
