Leah Leads Us Back To Action…and Pontiac For Spokesmodel Pics!
Just being able to write “Leah Leads Us Back To Action” is a joy for so many reasons! For starters this was our first photo session in months after being home to flatten the curve of the pandemic, so just getting out and being back at it doing what we love was exhilarating. But to be with Leah and her mom Emma made it even better because we’re friends and have been for many years. So to have that interaction for the first time and to do it with people we already know and care about was sustenance for the soul! Leah is representing the Bloomfield Hills Blackhawks for the class of 2021 and when you add in the fact that she brought her “A game” and SLAYED – well that’s just the icing on the cake…. Let’s get to some highlights!
Leah Leads Us Back To Action
We decided to go edgy and head to Pontiac, masks and all! We like to photograph in Pontiac from time to time for a little urban vibe.
Love. The. Shoes. And the gorgeous girl wearing them.
We also have some fun behind the scenes action for you first from our Facebook Livestream:
Leah had a few outfit changes so next up we have a lyrical costume with pointe shoes – this next setup is amazing:
Just so cool – the costume matching the rail, Leah on pointe – just the whole thing…. wow.
Moving around downtown Pontiac we discovered a little spot we either hadn’t noticed before or was newly painted since last fall:
Such a fun wall and Leah has that little smize going! Here’s some more behind the scenes this time embedded straight from Instagram TV!
The final shots just happened impromptu as Leah jumped up on a barrel and flashed the peace sign – with the shades on – just a great way to sum up how we were feeling that day! Love this girl.
And there you have it! Yep – Leah led us back to action which felt so good and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

Adrianna Leads The Way For The Senior Class of 2021 Spokesmodels!
Adrianna has been a part of the Frameable Faces studio since it opened in the Orchard Mall over 11 years ago! You may recognize her as the adorable little girl in the big frame by our theater in the back of the studio…
…and now she’s a beautiful young lady and the first of our class of 2021 senior spokesmodels! She even gave us a little side by side in the Facebook livestream you’ll see below which was so much fun! So this is an exciting moment for us to kickoff the new class and a surreal one for us since it’s Adrianna! She’s a West Bloomfield Laker and we’re so happy to have her back! We did a little reminiscing with her mom Lillian when we sat down to plan, and she had a fantastic spokesmodel session! These give us a chance to try out some new lighting techniques (as well as backdrops and locations as we move through the rest of our crew over the next few months) and Ally is still playing with her new camera. Plus we use these images in all of our upcoming marketing for the next senior class which will be coming through the studio in just 4 short months from now!
Adrianna Leads The Way
So let’s get to it:
We started out on the white paper backdrop and sometimes the white on white looks very cool – especially with the ripped jeans!
Adrianna was on her game!!!
Next we moved to the black backdrop and here we went black on black. People sometimes are surprised when we tell them they can wear the white on the white or the black on the black assuming they’ll blend in, but if your lighting is great it looks fantastic. We also want to give a shoutout to Caroline at Mandy Rose Studio for Adrianna’s makeup! They do an awesome job over there.
We also have our first behind the scenes clip here from Facebook Live and this is the one where Adrianna gives us the “double take flashback”! So much fun…
Next we moved to the fire red fabric backdrop which we love:
We have a little more behind the scenes fun here this time from Instagram Live:
We’ll leave you with one more on the red:
Wow – we’d say we’re off to an amazing start with Adrianna leading the way. More to come with the rest of the crew so keep on the lookout, and make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter and podcast! All the links are below! We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with Adrianna!
The Doug & Ally Morning Show PODCAST is here!
We have a PODCAST!!! I guess you could say this story began almost 5 years ago really… We have been livestreaming on Periscope since March 31st, 2015 – 5 days after the app launched in the app store. Since then we’ve met people virtually through Periscope all over the world, spoken at the Periscope Community Summit (Summit Live) in San Francisco, visited and/or photographed people we’ve met in Biloxi, Pensacola, Orlando, Mobile, New York, and Harbor Springs, restored photos for people around the globe and had visitors from Periscope at the studio from Chicago, Delaware, Washington D.C., Kansas, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, England, and Australia! Doug got one of his digital marketing clients from Periscope too!
It’s been one amazing ride.
Our show is on in the mornings generally Tuesday – Friday (and once in a while Saturday) sometime between 9:30 and 11:30EST and usually goes for about an hour. There’s lots of fun banter and a crew who is known as the “Octosquad” – plenty of shenanigans and inside jokes, not to mention telemarketing pranks.
We even have a hilarious logo designed by the amazing Rich Nairn and you can see the “history” of the Doug & Ally Morning Show in the form of his doodles at our Pinterest board… should give you a chuckle.
Enter The Doug & Ally Morning Show Podcast!
Meanwhile, over time our peeps started suggesting that we start a podcast. Podcasting is becoming a popular medium – people love to be able to listen to them on demand while they’re commuting, making dinner – in their car, on their headphones, with Alexa…. So after a brief series of episodes exclusively on our Patreon page which was subscription only, we decided to reboot it and open it up to the masses! We have three episodes live already and you can listen to them at the following embedded players and/or links. We’re still adding new platforms and we’re already almost everywhere you likely get your podcasts.
One last thing. The podcast is free. IF you are inclined to support the podcast, we would like to treat this separately in terms of the time it takes to line up guests, record, and invest in the podcast. We’d like to start upgrading to some proper equipment to upgrade the quality as well. So if you want to visit the Patreon page and subscribe we will give a shout out on the show when we get supporters, we’ll send you a Doug & Ally Morning Show bookmark and we’ll keep growing it – maybe with behind the scenes goodies and who knows what else? Like I said – it’s not required, but it’s worth it for some people to get involved and help grow this thing, and then we’ll get sponsors and maybe we can make a few dollars! We’ll be grateful if you do!
The current episode is the one that shows on the embedded players below, but you can click on the links and binge ALL of them from the beginning! Subscribe on your platform of choice and reviews (on Apple podcasts / iTunes for example) help too!
So enjoy, and there will be more to come – we’re just getting started!!!
Our host site is Anchor.fm and here is the podcast player for it.
You can also get us on Spotify:
Castbox – you can see all 3 episodes in their embedded player (kinda cool):
TuneIn (which is the one Alexa uses – you should be able to just ask Alexa to play The Doug & Ally Morning Show Podcast!

With Sam We Definitely Scored A Senior Hat Trick!
To be clear – the goal is not to score a hat trick ON Sam because he’s a goalie, but to use a hockey phrase that’s what Sam IS. Smart, personable and athletic – we love this kid. And why wouldn’t we? We’ve known his parents for a longggggg time. Ally and I were at North Farmington with both of them and Sam’s mom Missy and I go all the way back to kindergarten. Sam’s dad Mike was like an older brother to me when we were teammates in 1985 when I was a sophomore on the varsity and Mike was a senior. Missy and Mike did a great job with this young man and we had a great time with his senior pictures which we actually broke up into two different days. So let’s get to the highlights!
Senior Hat Trick
Our first day was just a studio day and we went with the FIRE!!!
We have some fun behind the scenes from that pic from Facebook – take a look!
One week and a hairstyle later we headed to Birmingham for round 2…
It was a little chilly but that’s all mental anyway I always say (the seniors don’t always buy it hehe…).
For whatever reason our Instagram Live didn’t save, but we do have a little TikTok from Birmingham which we think is kind of cool!
Here’s a couple more to finish with:
Pretty cool fire escape shot – not a fire escape we usually use….
We’ll leave you with this one of our guy chillin’
And there you have it! A senior hat trick with this guy indeed – we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with him!

Some Thoughts On Senior Pictures And Why They Are So Special
We were sitting and talking with one of our high school seniors and her mom yesterday and it was a conversation I really enjoyed – one that got me thinking about our seniors and why their sessions are so special.
We have had parents thank us before for “making it such a great experience” for their senior and “really capturing them” or “making them feel so special”. Yes – we are really good at what we do. Ally is an awesome photographer and she connects with people really well.
But here’s the thing, and I said this yesterday in what was a similar conversation to many we’ve had with comments like the ones above:
Often the case is that we made someone’s daughter or son feel good NOT just because we said lots of things, complimented them and focused on them, but because the senior kicked butt. At the end of the day the senior gets credit too. It’s the senior who has to prep, dress, smile, pose – for hours! It’s the senior who projects the confidence and the personality.
Sure Our Approach is Key…
Take the girl who was here yesterday with her mom to place their order. Did we have something to do with her having such an amazing session? Well sure we did. We meet with each senior ahead of time to get to know them. We want to get a sense of what their style is, their personality – and we empower them to be involved in planning their session. We know what questions to ask, we know tons of great locations, we have a great studio with perfect lighting, fantastic backdrops and really cool vintage furniture. We’ve been at this a long time and it’s our livelihood, but we want them to know this is about them. So yes this approach breaks down barriers and paves the way for a better session. It’s really important, and once we’ve done it the senior can own their part.
…But it’s a Team Effort & The Seniors Make It Special
It’s truly a collaboration. No different than a coach and an athlete, a conductor and a classical musician. The girl who was here yesterday really rose to the occasion. SHE was what made it special. She looked great! You could see the fun she was having and the confidence on her face in the photos. Ally laughs at how I always say the senior is “killing it” or “slaying the game” haha… But that’s not B.S. – it’s true! And with yesterday’s senior everyone brought their A game, everyone feels like we really accomplished something great together, and now we’re friends. We can’t imagine the tedium of doing it any other way for something that can and should be so special and our clients come here because that’s what they want.
So yes, we love what we do and we’re good at it, but it’s the team – us, the parents and the SENIORS that make senior pictures at Frameable Faces so special!
Easy Going With Eric Yields A Winning Fall Senior Session!
Easy going is definitely how we would describe Eric – just a low key and really nice guy. Soft spoken but personable with a great mom Tamura, and even lil’ sis joined for his session on a bit of a chilly fall day in Birmingham for his class of 2020 senior pictures! Eric already has some ideas for a career path mapped out and we enjoyed our day with him!
Easy Going Eric
We started in the studio for the yearbook photos and a couple other pics, like this one on one of our wood backdrops!
A fine young gentleman!
And here is the behind the scenes fun we have from the Facebook Live during the studio part of the session!
At this point we headed to Birmingham to get some photos outdoors!
That West Bloomfield Laker green is lookin’ good!
A very cool view of the waterfall as the backdrop for our guy which is usually obstructed earlier in the season.
We’ll leave you with one more on the bridge…
And there you have it! Easy going with Eric indeed and some great highlights with this young man! We hope you enjoyed them!
Our Last Detroit Senior Session Of The Fall Season – A Stellar One With Seth!
We still have some seniors to photograph but we’ll call this one with Seth the last one of the fall season in Detroit and it’s a STELLAR one to end on! Granted it was a cold windy day, but it was dry and we were able to get fantastic results. Seth is very go with the flow and he was a trooper with the weather! He’s got a good head on his shoulders and we had a great day with him and his mom Bridget!
Stellar Seth
We started in the studio with a few quick formal photos on the grey – here’s one:
GQ!!!!
Then it was time to head downtown and we started on Belle Isle – here’s one with the skyline in the distance!
Next we found a bridge that we’ve never used before – it’s SO cool and it will henceforth be known as Seth’s bridge because that’s how we roll! Here’s the behind the scenes on that from Instagram:
And one of the results…
Love that shot!!!
We also headed over to Eastern Market to grab some pics with the murals and here’s the behind the scenes from that on Facebook LIVE:
And we’ll leave you with this one:
Stud!
And there you have it! A stellar session with Seth in the D and we hope you enjoyed the highlights! A great one to end on…….for now!
Marlee Is Marvelous and So Are The Highlights From Her Senior Session!
We got marvelous with Marlee because she IS. She’s a legacy twice over here at Frameable Faces with both of her big bros coming here for their senior pics and we are big fans of the fam! Meanwhile Marlee is adorable, smart and snarky so she fits in pretty well here! Marlee’s mom Gayle joined us for a fine day here at the studio and on location in the WB for some, well, MAHHHVELOUS pics with Marlee!!!
Marlee Is Marvelous
We started on location for this one with Orchard Lake in the background…
LOVE IT.
Also you know how we roll – here’s the fun behind the scenes from the above photo from Facebook LIVE:
We hit a couple more spots around town including this meadow, and while we’re at it we need to shout out Farah at Mandy Rose Studio for hair and makeup – she did a great job with Marlee!
Beautiful.
And one more outside, and you can see a little of that Fall color coming in as we get up close with our girl…
At this point we headed back to the studio for a little glam on the black, and we have some more behind the scenes fun this time from Instagram:
And the MARVELOUS result:
A stunner to finish with!
We were getting marvelous with Marlee indeed – the end of an era with these guys and maybe they saved the best for last (?). LOL – we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!
