Senior Portraits With The One And Only SOCK COP!

For those of you who are on Periscope you must know about Sock Cop.  He’s a clean sock, clean cop and he spends his days keeping the streets safe by catching the speedahs….  He shares his life, his knowledge, his wisdom and his impressions of famous people in his daily broadcast and you should download the app and check out his show at @jasonburglar here (which as he’ll tell you “don’t make no sense, it don’t make no sense”).

Better Late Than Never

Meanwhile Mama Sock who did a great job raising Sock Cop unfortunately didn’t get a chance to get professional senior photos when he graduated high school so it was time to right that wrong, and in a first for our studio we actually did the session live on a broadcast during Sock Cop’s weekly show on ParachuteTV1 – the first true network on Periscope!  As we normally do we are sharing a few sneak peeks of the session here on the blog with you!

Sock Cop On Location!

We decided that the best location for the photos would be where Sock Cop is really in his element which is in front of the Police station so let’s start with a close up:

We made the decision to leave the hearts in the photo because it really tells the story of where Sock Cop is in his life now – people love Sock Cop and they typically tap the screen giving him a steady flow of hearts – it just shows how much happiness he brings to people.

Next let’s take a look at the Periscope broadcast replay of the session itself!

You can see there that he was really killing it!  As a side note for whatever reason our comments were out of order on the replay, so I left the extra bit in where you can actually see where we were helping direct the shoot.  One of the other viewers said “too small”, and that was in response to our suggestion that one of these would look good as a 20×24 canvas.

Nathan Served Notice On His Senior Session!

Nathan served notice on his senior session for sure – that he’s arrived, that he’s a good looking dude, and that he’s ready to take on any challenge!  Yet another senior we’ve known since he was born, he’s grown up to be an impressive young guy.  Nathan’s dad was an old college teammate of mine, and since Nathan’s younger sister Madeline came with us on the session and not his parents, it gave me some time to tell them plenty of old stories about their dad…  hahaha!

To The Stadium

Meanwhile Nathan was a good sport and prepared for the session (with help from his sister), and we think he had more fun than he bargained for.  Nathan is a football player who is planning on playing at the next level and so we met him at his stadium at Hartland High School where there was plenty to work with inside and outside the stadium.  We’ll start inside the stadium with a photo of Nathan next to the goal post:

Hanging Out In The City With Cool Kid Cooper!

Cooper is a cool dude.  He’s got a laid back yet confident style and he’s a good kid.  We really enjoyed hanging out with him, and as has been the case often this year it was a little surreal for me because I used to work with his mom Carolyn way back in a former former former life for me – my first job out of college!  I’ve always liked Carolyn and it was a lot of fun to have her at the studio with her son!

Meanwhile it wasn’t a surprise to me that we really liked this guy.  He brought his pup to Pontiac for a couple of shots which was a lot of fun and actually a first for us – we’ve photographed many pets but never on location in an urban setting so that was really cool!  So let’s get to some of the photos…!

We really only did the yearbook headshot in the studio so let’s stick to the city shots – first with Cooper and his pup Tucker!

An EPIC Detroit Session With Emma At The Dequindre Cut!

We’ve been saying for a long time that we love Detroit.  And we’ve been saying for a long time that we love Emma.  So the idea of photographing Emma in Detroit seemed like a winner, and when Emma and her mom Teresa suggested heading down to the Dequindre Cut we got excited.  We had read about it and seen a few photos from various Detroit blogs, but I’m here to tell you that it’s really cool having been there now first hand.

Emma is one of our spokesmodels for the class of 2016 so you may remember her spokesmodel session with us earlier in the year.  She’s an incredible dancer and a smart and wonderful young lady – we’ve been proud to have her representing us.  We spent this entire morning in Detroit, complete with a stop after at the Bucharest Grill for the best chicken shawarma in town, but I digress… let’s get to the photos!!!

As I mentioned the Dequindre Cut is so cool and we were so excited to be down there shooting, so we captured much of our time there with behind the scenes photos and broadcasts on Periscope!  Let’s take a look – first our fun behind the scenes Vine to give you an idea:

Jacqueline’s Senior Session Was Jam Packed!

We love being at the point where we have so many legacies coming to us for senior photos, and this is the second younger sister in a row on the blog!  Jacqueline jumped in some photos with her older sister Melanie last year so we got to know her a little bit and together with mom Andrea we really enjoy these girls!  If you click on the link to Melanie’s session you’ll see that they could be identical twins even though they aren’t!

With Jacqueline we took a slightly different approach than with Melanie, not spending quite as much time in the studio and heading to a different location before ending up at their house like we did last year.  Let’s start with a studio shot on the black background shall we?

Maybe We’re Amazed At Mia’s Senior Session!

Amazed is a good word for how we feel about Mia’s session.  Not because we’re surprised at how awesome it is, just because it’s that great.  Another legacy senior, Mia’s older sister Danielle was one of our seniors a couple years ago and Mia actually joined us on Danielle’s spokesmodel session so we knew Mia already and were excited when her mom called to schedule Mia’s session!

We would probably say that with younger siblings it’s about 50/50 on whether we go to the same spots and do the same kind of session for both or whether we do something completely different so they get their own style.  With Mia we went to the same spots in Birmingham as Danielle which we think is really cute, and we started out at Quarton Lake:

Right?  How gorgeous is that first shot?  We should also mention that Mia’s dad Howard joined us on this session and he’s hilarious.  Totally cool, the two of them have a great relationship and he was a welcome addition to the hangout.  Before we head to the city shots let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes action.  First here’s our six second vine…

Alexis Astonishes With An “Ablazing” Senior Session!

Is “ablazing” a word?  Ablaze is, but technically “ablazing” isn’t, and guess what – we don’t care, because we think it describes Alexis’s session just fine.  It had fire and it was amazing, so……..ablazing!!!  Boom!

Alexis’s mom Lisa is frequently at our awesome little mall and she is a sweetheart so we weren’t surprised to find that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.  Alexis is a charming, soft spoken and beautiful young lady and her session was indeed astonishing, amazing, ablazing and well, whatever other positive adjectives beginning with “A” that you can think of (and maybe even some other letters too)!  So let’s get to some highlights shall we?

Ian Impressed On His Senior Photo Session!

Ian impressed us indeed on his senior session.  He took time out of a busy schedule of training camp before his football season started to join us and his mom for a few hours for a photo shoot, and we had a really good time.  Not all guys really know what to expect with a three hour photo shoot and football players who are serious are pretty focused on the season in late August – I know that as well as anybody.  Nevertheless he was totally prepared with some great outfit changes, we had a really good game plan, and we had awesome conditions!

Meanwhile Ian was the third member of his family to be photographed here including his sister Zoe whose likeness hangs in our window on a huge canvas, and his mom for a professional / fitness headshot, so we were excited to get young Ian in here.  We started on location at a local barn:

It’s Kyra’s Turn in the Senior Session Spotlight!

It’s Kyra’s turn in the senior session spotlight being our second senior from her family – Kyra’s older brother Brendan was a Frameable senior a couple years back (he can be seen as the 6th senior from the top leaning against the silo here) and we met Kyra then as the spunky younger sister!  We really liked her then, so we were excited when we got the call from their mom Karen that Kyra would be coming to the studio for her own senior photos!

Kyra was ready to deliver on this day!  We spent most of our time on location in Birmingham but we started in the studio so let’s start our highlights there on the black background shall we?

Next it was time to head to Birmingham where we focused on both the natural setting of Quarton Lake as well as some more cosmopolitan shots downtown… here are a few from downtown starting with this one of Kyra against the lamppost with a nice pop of color in the background:

Kyra really did a great job all the way around – just very at ease and a natural in front of Ally’s camera.  Here’s our fun behind the scenes vine of our day:

Swift: Krushing The Senior Picture Game With Kirsh Daddy

Swift.

That’s all you have to say.  It’s Kirsh Daddy time and that’s the word of the day.  It’s actually Zack’s favorite word and if you hang with him for a while you’ll find yourself saying it too.  It’s basically another word for “cool” or “sweet”, and Zack is both, as well as a total character, so we were looking forward to this session for sure.

Why is Zack known as Kirsh Daddy?  It’s hard to explain but it just fits, and we decided to start off Krushing the senior picture game in downtown Birmingham for some city shots.  Let’s start it off with our first top of the parking structure shot of the season:

Swift right?  That shot wasn’t actually part of the plan with the specs – they are transition lenses so they darken up when exposed to the light but we actually love the way that one came out.  It’s pure Kirsh Daddy Kool.
