Come See Why We Care-A ‘Bout Cara With Her Spokesmodel Session!

Yes we care-a ’bout Cara and we have for a few years now!!!  She’s a legacy spokesmodel – technically her brother Ben is still a spokesmodel for the current class of 2017 while Cara is representing us for the upcoming class of 2018!  It’s funny because while Ben and our Lacey are really close friends, Cara and our Tony claim they are the “better version” of Ben and Lacey….  haha!

As for Cara herself this is a girl with great style and she is a total sweetheart!  We’re pretty excited to have her as we continue to gush about our new crew – it just gets better and better with each spokesmodel session.  With Cara we stayed in the studio and kept it pretty simple, and while we love all the results we’re particularly excited about how Cara looks on the damask background in the black and white outfit she wore for it.  But we’ll get to that in a bit – for now let’s start on the black background…

We Care-A ‘Bout Cara…

The criss cross applesauce on the stool is so fun – it’s a great way to kick this off!

Bout Cara

Of course we also have plenty of behind the scenes fun for you starting with the replay of our Periscope live broadcast – you can download the app and be part of the fun on your mobile or desktop at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can just watch from Twitter here.

Moving right along we have this super pretty three quarter length photo of our girl… this would also be a good time to give a shout out to Jessica Quinn for hair and makeup at Salon Matisse – great work! Bout Cara

…and one more in this fun outfit that is ALL Cara in the crouching pose… super fun and super cool:

Bout Cara

Before we get to the damask sneak peak let’s go back to the live behind the scenes action this time with the replay of our Facebook Live broadcast:

And here is the result!!!!

Bout Cara

Love it!  She looks beautiful!

We’ll leave you with our fun Snapchat story….

And there you have it!  You can see that we really care-a ’bout Cara and we can’t wait to get her back in here for her senior pics later this year!  Meanwhile don’t forget to sign up for our fun weekly email newsletter by clicking here!

Charity Channels Her Inner Charm For Her Champion Senior Session!

Inner charm, outer beauty, inner beauty, outer charm – all of it – Charity channels it!  Charity is another North Farmington Raider which is always a bonus for us as fellow Raider alums and we had a fantastic session with her!  Charity had to be a champ because it was chilly out – really chilly (how many words can Doug squeeze into this blog post that begin with “ch”?).  But she stuck it out and delivered some pure awesomeness in Pontiac for some city shots before we made it back to the warm confines of the studio…  Let’s get to it!

Charity Channels Her Inner Charm…

Charity is a sweetie and a dancer too so she’s got a lot going for her.  Her mom Caren joined us as we headed out on location.  First we have this photo on the fire escape…

Charity Channels

Love this because her outfit blends right in with the colors around her for one thing, and she just looks happy and great all the way around.  We actually have plenty of behind the scenes to share as well, and we’ll start with the replay of the Periscope live broadcast.  You can download the app and be part of the fun at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can also just watch from twitter here.

I have to mention that there is an amazing moment on this broadcast where Caren got very emotional watching her girl have her senior pictures taken and like a reporter I took a risk and ran over to catch it and ask her how she was doing – it was a good cry and so sweet!  Caren was great sport about it too!

Awww…..

At this point we relocated for a wardrobe change to another spot on a different set of steps and had some great backlight going for this one.

Charity Channels

That lighting and that smile!

You would never know we were pretty cold by the results…. and at this point it was time to get back to the studio.

First we have a close up of our girl on the red paper backdrop which is one of our faves for sure.

Charity Channels

We also have more behind the scenes fun this time from the replay of our Facebook Live broadcast!

Here’s a dramatic black and white version of our “black and blowy” setup that we are in love with…

Charity Channels

And we’ll end it with the Snapchat story we posted that day – you should be following us there too!  Snap us back!

So there you have it!  When Charity channels her inner charm it comes through with wonderful outer results!  We hope you enjoyed our highlights from our day with her!

Emily Emits Spokesmodeling Excellence For The Class of 2018!

Emily is our first North Farmington Raider of this upcoming class, and as we expect from Raiders she emits excellence – spokesmodeling excellence and plenty of other kinds too!  She plays the oboe, and she’s involved in a couple of organizations – smart, funny, talented, beautiful – a multiple threat!  We haven’t known Emily long, but we became instant fans when she first came to the studio for our meeting – of her and her mom Jennifer – and we are thrilled to have Emily representing the studio!

Spokesmodeling Excellence…

This session was entirely in the studio as the rain was falling outside, and we love these.  For the spokesmodel sessions there is no pressure to go outside and we can try out some new things in the friendly confines of the Frameable Faces studio!  We started out with the black background for this one…

Spokesmodeling Excellence

Such elegance – she looks fantastic!

We also have plenty of behind the scenes footage from the day starting with the replay of our Periscope broadcast.  You can follow us and join in the fun of future broadcasts by getting the app and following us at @frameablefaces here or you can just watch from Twitter!

Next we went with the simple clean white background which is always a winner for this relaxed close up of our girl…

Spokesmodeling Excellence

Spokesmodeling excellence indeed…

Next we broke out the red paper backdrop which we love for its richness and we captured a candid and playful Emily here…  so fun!

Spokesmodeling Excellence

Emily Emits…

At this point we broke out the metal which emits a little reflection of its own, but Emily clearly overpowered it for this next series and we experimented a little here – different angles for a couple of the shots, we flipped over the floor mats to give a stark black floor to add to the industrial look and we added a filter to the finished product – this setup will be known as “The Emily” going forward and here is some of the behind the scenes from the Facebook Live broadcast.  As you’ll see things started getting “crazy” at this point!  We had double broadcasts going as Emily was live with her own peeps on Instagram and Jennifer was directing some poses for Emily – we had a blast!

LOVE this result….

Spokesmodeling Excellence

We’ll leave you with the Snapchat story of the session which we have posted on our YouTube channel….  fun!

And there you have it!  Emily clearly emitted spokesmodeling excellence on this day, and we cannot wait to get her back into the studio for her senior pictures later this year!  Love her!  We hope you are enjoying the continuing highlights of our amazing crew for the upcoming class of 2018!

Sami Spokesmodels and Slays At A Splendid New Spot!

Here we go moving right along with the upcoming class of 2018 as Sami spokesmodels and slays!  We are pretty excited for Sami as we are with all of the members of our new crew so far, and with this session we are particularly excited because we ventured out to a new location we’ve never been to and boy was it worth it!  Ally had the idea to give Mill Race Park a try in Commerce, and what a cool spot!  The Huron River, trails, a bridge, a covered bridge, graffiti – this park has it all, and all the features are in close proximity to each other.  A real gem!

Speaking of gems, Sami is surely one herself.  We’ve known Sami for a few years as well as her mom and dad and she is a real sweetheart – everyone has nothing but the nicest things to say about Sami!  She’s not only sweet and adorable either – she’s on debate team, Peer Corps, and she dances too!  She looked beautiful and the weather was crazy warm – 60 degrees on February 23rd!!!  And yes – that was yesterday as of this writing!  Ally was pretty excited to go through these and she grabbed 4 to edit so we could rush this out onto the blog and send out in our weekly Friday newsletter which you can sign up for here.  So with a quick shout out to the girls at Mandy Rose Studio for Sami’s makeup and hair let’s get to the location shots where Sami spokesmodels and slays shall we?

Sami Spokesmodels and Slays….

So the first landmark we came across was this cool bridge and that’s where we started:

Sami Spokesmodels

Love it!

We also have plenty of behind the scenes fun from the session for you to check out.  First the replay of our live Periscope broadcast – you can join us on Periscope to be a part of our broadcasts here or you can just follow and watch from twitter as well!

There are some great remains from the Commerce Roller Mill which dates back to the 1840’s so we played around with them for some shots – here’s one…

Sami Spokesmodels

When we were researching this location there was mention on the website of a covered bridge so we (Sami actually) found it and we fired up another Facebook Live broadcast…

…..and here is a resulting photo from the bridge!  “Sami’s bridge” going forward since she pioneered it which is how we roll here at Frameable Faces.  Actually the whole park is Sami’s…. lol.

Sami Spokesmodels

How cute is she?

Okay now we have one more shot to share – Ally loves this one of Sami just being adorable looking over her shoulder with more ruins in the background…

Sami Spokesmodels

We also did a few shots in the studio and you take a look at the behind the scenes fun below!  Sami will ultimately be able to share some of these on her own but we wanted to focus on the location for this post since it was a new spot for us!

We’ll finish it off with the Snapchat story we posted from the session – be sure to follow us there too!

So there you have it!  We now know when Sami spokesmodels it’s surely something special and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!  She’ll be back on this blog and in the window of our studio – we’re not through with her yet!!!  Lol!

KICKING OFF Class of 2018 Spokesmodels with Olivia! BEAUTY & BEAST!

When we say we’re kicking off our class of 2018 spokesmodels we actually mean we’re kicking it off!  With a kicker – a female kicker!  We are thrilled to have Olivia representing our studio and this is always an exciting time for us as we start to look towards the upcoming senior class which we’ll start photographing in earnest this summer.  Some our favorite people of all time and very close friends started out as spokesmodels going all the way back to the graduating class of 2009 and we’ve already become fast friends with Olivia and her mom Liz.  But first let’s back up a bit to the fall of 2015 in the bleachers of Bloomfield Hills High School…

“Check It Out!  How Cool Is That?”

Our son Tony plays football at BHHS and when he first went out for the team as a freshman we were at one of his games sitting in the bleachers.  The freshman team was down on the field and they play before the JV so the JV came up into the bleachers to wait and watch until their turn came.  Ally being a nervous mom saw the size of some of the sophomores walking past and then….Olivia comes walking by in her pads and Ally and I said to each other “Check it out!  How cute is she?  And how COOL is that?”  There were no girls on the football team to speak of back in our day.  You see it more now but it’s still not that common and we think you need to be a pretty cool girl to be able to hang on a team of guys, and be a kicker where all eyes are on you every time you take the field to begin with!

Needless to say our wheels started turning back then as they often do when we’re on the lookout for spokesmodels.  So flash forward to the varsity banquet at the end of Tony’s JV season a couple months ago and there is Olivia looking stunning, so we texted a couple people during dinner to ask about Olivia and we were given the thumbs up.  Ally makes a break for it.  So creepy right?  Like, “we’ve had our eye on you for years and we want you to be a spokesmodel for our studio”!!!  Haha!  But we still had to see if she was actually interested, meet her and her mom at the studio and make sure it was a fit for everyone.  So sure enough Olivia called and said she would be interested and when she and Liz arrived we fell in love with them immediately.  Such sweethearts both of them!!!

Kicking Off With Olivia…

While we may be kicking off the proceedings we should also mention that Olivia plays lacrosse and she’s nice and she’s smart – she’s the whole package.  But before we get to the beast part we started off with the beauty part of the session….  First we’ll share this one on the brown backdrop – we find the brown to be a great option to go with pink – a good color combo for this year.

Kicking Off

We actually played around with a few different backdrops and combinations as we usually do with our spokesmodels and you can see some of the behind the scenes fun here…  Let’s start with the replay of our Snapchat story from the day which ends with the “squad selfie”!  🙂

Next we have the replay of our live Periscope broadcast – if you aren’t following us on Periscope and want to join in the fun and be a part of our shows download the app and follow us at @frameablefaces, or you can watch from your browser and/or on Twitter too!

Now let’s take a look at some of the photos we did on the black backdrop.  First we have this relaxed and fun shot on our black couch – black on black anything looks cool when it’s lit properly and we are looking forward to more of our black couch which is still a relatively new addition here on the black background.

Kicking Off

Plenty of Beauty right?  Now time for beast…

What’s fun about these next couple of shots is that it was actually hard to get Olivia to keep a straight face, because as much of a bad ass as she is, she’s actually very humble and sweet and she was giggling.  Haha!

Kicking Off

How awesome is that shot???  The football / lacrosse mashup!

Let’s take another look at some behind the scenes fun with more live video this time from Facebook Live:

And now one more lit photo in beast mode….

Kicking Off

AWESOME!  What a way to be kicking off the class of 2018 spokesmodel sessions!  Much more to come from our new crew which is starting to shape up to be a very strong class!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our time with Olivia!  Stay tuned….

The 2017 Frameable Faces Campus Tour Was A Blast!

This month we decided it was time to go back to school!  Because like, we really miss college.  Okay well not exactly – we embarked on the 2017 Frameable Faces Campus Tour which was our third one!  We did campus tours back in 2013 and 2015 – not necessarily by design although the bi-annual approach may work going forward.  We’ll see since they are pretty darn fun.  You see we love our high school seniors and we miss them when they go away!  They often visit when they come home but we like to head up to Ann Arbor and East Lansing once in a while to see them and feed them – college kids love food right?  We get to reconnect with them and find out what’s going on in their lives and their parents get to see that they’re alive and well!  Haha!

2017 Frameable Faces Campus Tour!2017 Frameable Faces Campus Tour – First Stop, Michigan Wolverines!  GO BLUE!

We started out at U of M and we met at the traditional campus tour spot Pizza House right in the middle of campus!  We even got to Ann Arbor a little early and did a little snapchat story where we included a couple other stops on campus in addition to all the obligatory selfies with our Frameable Wolverines!  Here’s the snap story:

We also grabbed a quick Facebook Live video while we were visiting with our friends….  🙂

Lastly we walked around and gave our Periscope community a little tour of central campus and one of our seniors Becca made another random cameo – so fun!

Here’s the Instagram collage we posted that summed it all up:

That wraps up our a-MAIZE-ing day at Michigan!  One week later it was time to…

Sparty On!  The 2017 Frameable Faces Campus Tour Rolls Into East Lansing!

Now we have to put a disclaimer on this…  we thought heading up to MSU on MLK Day would be a good idea because the University was open but there were no classes.  And that would have been a great plan.  What wasn’t a great plan was not checking the weather, because had we done that we would been aware of the freezing rain that came down most of the day.  Not kidding – we saw over twenty cars in the ditch on either side of I-96 on the way up to East Lansing.  The weather put a slight damper on the plans – we didn’t get up there early enough to do a snap story around campus like we did in Ann Arbor and our turnout wasn’t as big.  BUT – we didn’t let that stop us from having a great time anyway with a few of our faves!  Here’s our Snap Story with our selfies, topopo salads & Insomnia cookies!

We also have a fun Facebook Live video from El Azteco…

Fun!  And here’s our Instagram collage from MSU…

2017 Frameable Faces Campus Tour!

And that about sums up the tour!  We had so much fun visiting with our former Frameables and it’s such a thrill to see them thriving and learning up at school!  We wish we could get to all of the other schools too but time and logistics make it impossible!  Suffice it to say this is how we feel about all of our former seniors!!!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of the 2017 Frameable Faces Campus Tour!

Shira Soars Over Detroit City For Her Senior Pictures!

“Shira Soars Over Detroit City” definitely tells the story of this senior session!  We’ve actually known Shira for a while because we’ve photographed her siblings and a family portrait that she was in here at the studio a few years back.  But Shira’s session took on a whole new approach from the others because we had access to some space and even a roof high above the city of Detroit!  So cool!  Meanwhile Shira is a sweetheart and she looked so cute for her session!

Shira Soars…

We actually did half of the session downtown in Detroit where her dad met us to get us the access I mentioned, and then we finished up back in the studio, so we’ll highlight a little of both starting with “The D”.

Shira Soars

So cool!

We also have some behind the scenes from up top as well from the replay of our Periscope broadcast – you can follow us there at @FrameableFaces at this link, or if you want to just follow on Twitter and watch there you can do that too!

Next we headed up to the roof where we captured this one of Shira – “soaring” above Detroit!

Shira Soars

Love it!

At this point it was time to head back to the studio where we got some great shots on the grey paper background with a couple wardrobe changes…

Shira Soars

How adorable is she?

We’ll leave you with one more…

Shira Soars

And there you have it!  A great day in the city and the studio with Shira for sure.  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

We Are Loving Lacey And We Couldn’t Be More Proud!

This isn’t the first time I’ve written about our daughter Lacey on this blog.  She represented our studio this year as a senior spokesmodel and we already did one epic session with her in downtown Detroit.  This time around it’s her senior session and it’s a good thing I’m writing this post because if Ally tried she’d probably be an emotional mess.  It goes fast – really fast, and here we are – it’s been 17 and a half years that we’ve been loving Lacey and we couldn’t be more proud!

Loving Lacey…

So for this session we had a connection that gave us a green light to photograph at Cranbrook where we are not typically allowed to photograph so we took advantage of it.  It was a great day!  We even had our would-be-intern Brittney with us even though she’s leaving us to move to Colorado… (we’re so bummed) but not before she documented our day with Lacey in a unique way which we hope to share soon, so stay tuned…

Meanwhile we started in the studio to do a few shots so let’s look at those first on the grey paper background:

Loving Lacey

That’s our girl!

Of course we have some fun behind the scenes for you first from the replay of the Periscope live stream broadcast.  If you want to be a part of future broadcasts and haven’t downloaded the app yet you can do so and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link, or if you prefer to just watch from twitter you can do that here.

Here’s one more from the studio of Lacey with a cute red hat!

Loving Lacey

At this point it was time to head out and get some fall colors on this nice crisp November day of which there were some great ones!

This is one of our faves…

Loving Lacey

Here’s another broadcast replay from the location – this time on Facebook Live!

And here we have one more from outside:

Loving Lacey

I’m biased but I do love that smile…  So yes we are loving Lacey and always will be.  Don’t be surprised if there is yet another session (or two) of this girl before her senior year is done.  Ha!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with our girl!

Hair Jordan! As In Her Hair Is Amazing And So Is She!

This blog title wrote itself – it’s impossible to look at a photo of Jordan and not be struck by her amazing hair so I had to do it.  You’ve heard of Air Jordan I’m sure – the brand is supposed to represent excellence right?  So “Hair Jordan” is certainly a good thing!  And the rest of her is pretty awesome too – we were impressed with this girl from the first time she came to the studio for her consultation with her mom Julia.  Just a cool confident teen and we look forward to the heights she’ll scale in the future.

Hair Jordan!  🙂

Meanwhile we are excited to present these photos from the studio and our urban excursion into downtown Pontiac.  This session was killer and Jordan’s mom and little bro both came with!  We started out in the studio so let’s take a look at a couple of those:

Hair Jordan

Okay – loving it all – Jordan’s skin tone and hair with the red couch against the red background?  Amazing!

We also have some fun behind the scenes of the session for you starting with the replay of our live Periscope broadcast from the studio where we were making the above photo.  If you don’t have the app yet you can download it and follow us at @FrameableFaces at this link or if you just want to watch from Twitter you can do that here.

Okay one more from the studio with a wardrobe and background change to the black fabric…

Hair Jordan

Fantastic…

At this point we headed to Pontiac to get some city photos – half painted walls, underneath parking garages – we love this stuff….

Hair Jordan

Here is a little more behind the scenes action – this time from Pontiac on Facebook Live!

And one more from the city!  I actually spotted this wall.  We’ve really closed this fall out strong with our seniors from the standpoint of finding bunches of new spots!  We had never seen this wall before and it will now be “Jordan’s Wall” because that’s how we roll.

Hair Jordan

Wow – in love with Jordan’s session!!!!  “Hair Jordan” indeed!  That’s all we have for now – we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

A Perfect Day Of Surreal Proportions For Jeremy’s Senior Session!

Our day with Jeremy was one of those days when planets seem to align in ways that don’t seem remotely realistic on a number of levels…  Just a perfect day of surreal proportions!  It starts with Jeremy’s mom Karen – and this is not meant to embarrass her at all, in fact it’s just really cute.  Karen wasn’t sure Jeremy would really be into doing a fun and involved senior session, and she wasn’t sure she would be invited if he agreed to it.  Now keep in mind – this is not out of the ordinary and has nothing to do with whether Jeremy is a great kid (he is) and whether or not the two of them have a good relationship (they do), it’s just that some seniors (and especially senior guys) are more excited for this than others, and not all parents come to senior sessions.  It’s probably about 60-40 that they do.  Some moms know they’ll hover too much and affect the session, some teenagers are just, well, teenagers.  Lots of factors involved.  There’s no doubt that Karen wanted to be there though – she just didn’t want Jeremy to feel obligated to have her and wasn’t sure how it would go.  So there’s part of the backdrop to the story…

A Perfect Day Of Surreal Proportions

So Karen planned not to come.  The session was scheduled for November 1st from 3-6 in Detroit – Jeremy and his family are all about Detroit and the comeback the city has been on (as are we) so they thought that would be great to head down there.  Karen was at the mall grabbing lunch the day of his session when Jeremy called her just to check in and he said “you’re coming on the session right?”   Karen was pretty psyched to get that question and it was just luck (no really) that she was here and available to pop over to the studio and come downtown with us.  Planets aligning…

We went to Belle Isle first and explored a bit – here’s a photo from there…

Surreal Proportions

Oddly enough as you can see the colors were not totally turned on Belle Isle yet even though it was already November, and while we’re on that topic, late September and most of October were unseasonably warm this year which is why the color change started much later than usual.  We figured for sure the cold was finally on its way for real when the temperatures averaged 53 for the previous 7 days before Jeremy’s session.  Well Jeremy’s day was 74 degrees!!!  It’s not supposed to be 74 degrees in Detroit on November 1st.  Planets aligning…

Here is some fun behind the scenes from our day starting with a replay of one of our live broadcasts on Periscope!  You can be a part of our future shows by downloading the app and following us at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can just watch from Twitter here.

Next we headed over to Eastern Market to get some photos with some of the many amazing murals in and around the area…

Surreal Proportions

Soooo cool… what a stud!

Here’s a little more behind the scenes from the Eastern Market area where you can see the full expanse of the above mural this time from Facebook Live

…and here’s one more mural shot.

At this point it was time for the coup de grace.  We headed over to the Detroit Riverwalk to get a few photos which we have never actually done before and we had never been to this part of the Riverwalk but it certainly won’t be our last time there.  The whole scene was surreal – a November evening in Detroit with everyone in shorts on what felt like a perfect summer evening.  As the sun was going down the temperature held above 70 and the sunset was AMAZING with the Detoit River and the Ambassador Bridge in the background.  Planets aligning yet again…

We ended up going with a little off camera flash for this last photo we’ll share – you can get a feel for the scene in this last broadcast from Periscope – most of this broadcast is of the amazing sunset while we took a little break but it’s worth a look:

And here is the last one as the sun was about to vanish on the horizon – and while it is a finished image, Ally did not mess with the color – that sunset sky is #NoFilter!

Surreal Proportions

A perfect day – as it was finishing up we just kind of reveled in the satisfaction of an amazing session and the crazy way in which it all came together!  Karen was thrilled to be a part of it, so were we, and Jeremy nailed it!  A perfect day of surreal proportions and we hope you enjoyed the highlights!
