Good Karma With Kamari On Her Senior Session In Detroit!

Kamari is literally an anagram of karma with a fun “i” on the end, and if karma is the sum of your energy from your actions then yes, Kamari has good karma judging by the result of this awesome session in Detroit!  We actually knew this already because it’s not the first or even the second time Kamari has been in front of Ally’s camera!  The first time was when she was little for some family pics, and the second time was as a spokesmodel for us for the class of 2022!  She comes from a great family, her dad Jahmal joined us in Detroit for this session & mom Kimberly made an appearance at the studio as well!  We love these guys.  So let’s get to the highlights!

Next we headed over to Eastern Market which is where we spent the rest of the session really – and we got great stuff…

This is where part of that karma kicks in – anytime we find a new spot at a location we’ve been to many times that’s a big deal for us, and we never really noticed this one dead end as an option.  Jahmal gets most of the credit – we think he was the one who pointed it out (?).

Kamari Kicks It Off For The Class Of 2022 Spokesmodels!

Kamari kicks it off in style in these highlights from our first high school senior spokesmodel session for the rising class of 2022!  If you know us at all you know how giddy with excitement we get around this time of year.  Yes we’re starting a little later than our pre-pandemic schedule, but the craziness of the last year has us even more ready than usual to be photographing seniors again (if that’s possible)!

Meanwhile Kamari is not a stranger to Ally’s camera – she was here when she was little for family portraits (wow has our blog come a long way since then…haha) with her parents Jahmal and Kimberly and big brother (and former Frameable senior) Jaden!

Kamari will be a senior at Mercy High School this fall and she is completely adorable just as she’s always been.  We started with just a pic or two in the studio before we headed out on location.  Many of our senior sessions include both studio and location photos… here’s a simple one on the white background.

A Maddie Takeover in Detroit for Senior Pictures!

We had a Maddie takeover in the D!  You’ve seen Maddie on this blog before as a spokesmodel representing Mercy High School for the senior class of 2021 and her return was epic!  Yes it was a little cold but we literally had downtown Detroit to ourselves early on this particular Saturday morning and we made the most of it!

Mad About Maddie – Class of 2021 Version! Spokesmodel highlights!

This is the second year in a row we’ve had a spokesmodel named Maddie and we may have to just start recruiting Maddies as a strategy.  They seem to be pretty awesome as a category.  This Maddie is no exception – outgoing with a ton of personality and just a sweetheart!  We’ve photographed her cousins in the past so there is some connection there, her mom Stephanie is a delight, and we’re thrilled to have her representing the Farmington Hills Mercy Marlins for the class of 2021!

Simply Sierra On A Perfect Sunny Morning!

We photographed Sierra on a perfect sunny morning for her senior session!  Sierra has been representing our studio as a spokesmodel this year and for her spokesmodel session we were completely in the studio.  We used basketballs, fire, huge fluffy hearts and tutus and it was fantastic.  After doing all that during the winter we were excited to get outdoors to get, well…. photos of simply Sierra!  After some potentially shaky looking forecasts we ended up with a gem of a morning…

Love the flower in her hair!  Sierra nominated both Ally and me for the ALS ice bucket challenge (which we did) a few days before her session so we let her think we were going to get her back somehow on the day of her session (but of course we wouldn’t do that).  Sierra has a great personality – very outgoing and she’s funny, and as the baby in a family of athletes she and I personally have a lot in common!

The lighting on this next shot is great – it was hitting this pathway just right and Reflecto helped out too…

Simply Sierra

When we met for our consultation Sierra had a few specific spots that she liked at several different places, and since we were spending our entire time on location our strategy was to stay on this side of town where we could drive and cherry pick spots from multiple locales and it worked out well!

Beautiful right?  Just relaxing in the grass, hanging out on pathways, and then there’s this which you saw in the vine:Simply Sierra

Sierra’s Spokesmodel Session Had Glamour AND Grit!

Sierra’s session starts a little trend with the class of 2015 spokesmodels as the first of three younger siblings of former seniors of ours and she is also one of five in this class whom we have photographed before.  Sierra actually appeared on the cover of our brochure from last year with the rest of her wonderful family, and we photographed two of her older siblings for their senior pictures featured here and here.  Sierra’s family has a strong athletic tradition and we of course wanted to highlight that here, but that was only a part of her session, and we will get to that a little later.  There are plenty of sides to Sierra so we wanted to present some options for the senior who can display versatility!  The “glamour AND grit”!!!

For now let’s start with super cute.

Just a simple white background and a nice smile can work every time and we like poses that frame the face like this one.  We also like a thoughtful pose up close in black and white like this next one – stunning!
