An Epic Session And Cake Smash With A One Year Old Superstar!

We photographed this lovely couple years ago when they got engaged, and now they have added to the family with a precious and yummy little girl who they brought to the studio for some one year photos and a cake smash.  What a day – this little one was as close to perfect as a one year old can be for a session!  She was a total ham, worked the camera like a pro, and treated us to quite possibly the most epic cake smash in Frameable Faces history!!!  She had an audience as well with her grandparents there to watch, and she delivered – a true one year old superstar!

Let’s get to the photos shall we?  Let’s start with our featured model on her own!

One Year Old Superstar

How adorable is she???  Okay let’s get mommy and daddy into a shot and enjoy the happy family together:

One Year Old Superstar

Just a great shot of the three of them.  Now let’s get into a little more fun…  this is where our little princess started to really get going…

One Year Old Superstar

See what we mean?  How awesome is that outfit?  The hat, shirt and tutu – it all comes together for total cuteness.  Let’s take a little look at our behind the scenes vine of the session where you can really see how much fun our little one was having, and you’ll start to see the cake smash.

So as we mentioned, the cake smash was epic indeed.  She loved the cake and really didn’t need much prompting to get going on it.  She made a fantastic mess which is a lot of fun to watch.  Take a look!

One Year Old Superstar

So there you have it!  The one year old superstar with her epic cake smash!  So yummy and so fun – we hope you enjoyed these photos from our session with her!

The Twilight Was On Point For Tristan’s Senior Photos!

The twilight was on point for Tristan’s senior photos!  Every now and then we plan a nighttime shoot if it works into everyone’s schedule and when we shoot after the daylight savings “fall back” we get darkness by late afternoon.  For city portraits this can make for some really cool opportunities.  We don’t always get to try some of these creative shots with the different lighting that night shoots require.  Meanwhile we had a great senior model to work with – Tristan is a North Farmington Raider for starters which is always a bonus for us as Raider alums!  He’s a great kid with a great mom who came along for the shoot and we had much fun.  We’ll get to the city shots in a bit…

First let’s start with the studio photos where we went mostly formal.  We started with the grey backdrop which we like especially for guys in the formal wear and North Farmington’s yearbook headshots need to be on grey anyway so it’s convenient to boot.

The Twilight

From there we moved on to the black backdrop which always works well for this next close up shot:

The Twilight

We love these shots…  Tristan nailed them – really he nailed the whole session.  Here’s our fun behind the scenes vine where you’ll see us on location at night in Birmingham for the next couple photos:

The off-camera flash gives us great lighting and the shadows have a really dramatic effect here…  We use this wall all the time but this is the first time we’ve done this particular shot at night.

The Twilight

So cool right?  Totally on point.  Okay let’s take a look at one more nighttime photo…

The Twilight

Love the city flavor and the textures…  Tristan had an awesome session and we hope you enjoyed the highlights from our evening with him!

Joining Fall, Fire and Finesse With Jenna!

We are happy to share highlights from the day we were joining Fall, fire, and finesse with Jenna!  For those of you who know us you know we are both North Farmington Raider alums and how much we love the brown and gold!  Jenna comes from a great family tradition of Raider athletes and I personally have known her dad and uncle since I was a kid so this was really a special session for us.  This session had great variety which fits this girl because she’s the whole package – she’s smart, athletic, pretty and funny!

Okay let’s get to the photos!  First we went on location to Heritage Park with Jenna and her mom and we were able to get this shot in the barn doorway – a unique shot for us since I don’t think we’ve ever been there where the door was open before…

Fire and Finesse

Love it!  This next photo is another unique shot with the deep mahogany colored leaves framing the photo, and Jenna’s eyes look amazing here!

Fire and Finesse

So after getting the “Fall” part it was time to head back to the studio to get the “Fire” part!  It’s no secret that we like to set things on fire here in the studio and a volleyball is the perfect prop!  We think shots like these just convey the energy, drama and fierce commitment required for athletic competition, and Jenna just nailed it.

Fire and Finesse

Here is our fun behind the scenes vine of the day!  We always love when people see these and say “Whoa that’s real fire!  We thought that was just photoshoped!”  Yes it’s real fire!

Lastly we went to the red background for a little more “Finesse” in a dress and we love this glam shot with the sneakers!

Fire and Finesse

So there you have it!  We hope you enjoyed our joining of fall, fire and finesse with Jenna!

A Frameable Fun Fall Session With A Family Of Three!

We have been buried in seniors from the class of 2015 lately which we love, but a frameable fun fall session with a family of three was a nice change of pace especially at the height of fall colors!  What a fun couple with what Ally would refer to as a squishy yummy little boy named Josh.  Josh gave us great smiles and we had much fun!

We went to one of our go-to spots in a neighborhood close by and the conditions were just right!  There are trees and bridges and just a lot to work with there.  We started with the bridge:

Frameable Fun Fall Session

How cute is the little man?  Cute enough that we moved on to working on some solo shots to give him the spotlight and Ally captured this sweet photo of Josh just being a happy little boy sitting in the leaves…

Frameable Fun Fall Session

Next we looked to get a few more family shots under a tree filled with and surrounded by pretty yellow and orange leaves – it was a great spot which gave us some great results!

Frameable Fun Fall Session

Love the interaction here of the three of them just being a family.  And we have a little of this on our fun behind the scenes vine of the morning!  You’ll see here that when we went back to the house afterwards to try to get a few more with the dogs that Ally got a little surprise…  haha!

As mentioned in the vine this part of the session with the dogs was a bit more challenging but we did get one last family shot on the deck that we’ll share here!

Frameable Fun Fall Session

And there you have it!  Highlights from a Frameable fun fall session with a family of three that we hope you enjoyed!

Lively and Lovely With Lindsey On Her Senior Session!

Lindsey came to the studio for her lively and lovely senior session on a beautiful sunny Saturday and while it was our first time photographing her here at the studio it wasn’t the first time we photographed her.  She jumped in for a few shots with her cousins a few years ago when she was a little younger and it’s always fun to do senior pictures with someone we’ve photographed before!  Oh – and especially a North Farmington Raider – you know how we love our Raiders being Raiders ourselves!

We’ve had great sessions with this class of 2015 and for different reasons – every senior is unique and different.  In Lindsey’s case she wowed us with her lively sense of style and fashion and won us over with her sweet and lovely way inside and out!

We began in the studio with some simple shots – like this one of Lindsey in a white top and jeans on the white background:

Lively and Lovely

She’s great in front of the camera!  We played around in the studio for a while including some shots of Lindsey in her brown and gold Raider letter jacket as you can see in our fun behind the scenes vine of the day!

Next it was time to head out on location for a little nature and a little city…  First we went to the grey wall that actually used to be white.  We love its new paint job and and we love Lindsey here:

Lively and Lovely

So Lindsey looks great so far right?  Well these last two outfit changes clearly kicked it up a notch or two – this one on the stairs which you saw a clip of in the vine is just so cool!  The hat, the haute couture feel, the hair twirl, the attitude – LOVE this.

Lively and Lovely

And then last but not least with the natural backdrop – just a spectacular shot of Lindsey here…  Wow.

Lively and Lovely

So there you have it!  Lindsey’s lively and lovely senior session!  We hoped you loved these photos of our day with her!

Bringing A Cool Spot Back With Becca!

We are always on the lookout for cool new locations for senior sessions and it seems lately some of our explorations have been more rewarding than usual.  New meadows, pathways and bridges get us excited!  But once in a while during a consultation a senior sees something on our iPad that we hadn’t thought about in a while and leads us back to a spot that we get to see in a whole new way!  Becca did that for us when she chose this very cool tunnel that we hadn’t been to in years.  So yes – we are bringing a cool spot back with Becca!

We’ve also mastered a few new lighting tricks since the last time we were here, and we love the way this one came out:

Bringing A Cool Spot Back

So cool – and Becca looks great!  There is also a cool outdoor staircase right by the tunnel which we took advantage of.  Any location that has a couple of different looks in close proximity is a bonus.

Bringing A Cool Spot Back

Here is our fun behind the scenes vine that we made from this location before we headed back to the studio…

Next it was time to head back and get some studio shots.  Becca liked the purple which is fun – it looks great but we don’t use it a ton.  We love Becca on this color!

Bringing A Cool Spot Back

We finished up on the white background and this is one of those shots that just begs to be made into a black and white.  It just looks cool – Becca looks totally in control here – love the pose and love the attitude!

Bringing A Cool Spot Back

And that’ll do it for now – another fantastic senior and fantastic senior session!  We hope you enjoyed these sneak peeks!

Striking Gold With Leah – Again!

Having Leah represent Frameable Faces this year has felt like striking gold.  Okay brown and gold to be exact since she’s a North Farmington Raider like both of us, but we are feeling lucky to have her because she’s just so much fun to photograph.  She just has that it – she looks great, she knows how to pose, she’s sweet and we love her mom too which doesn’t hurt since she came along for the session!  Leah had an amazing spokesmodel session earlier this year so we knew it could be tough to match, but match it she did!

We are going to feature the location shots here and we captured some really nice natural photos along with plenty of fabulous city photos, so here we go…!!!

Let’s start with the natural with this close up of Leah’s smile surrounded by some pretty purple flowers.

striking gold

Beautiful right?  Let’s give a little shout out while we’re at it to Gloria Haio from The Beauty Lounge down the hall from our studio for the fantastic job on Leah’s makeup.  Next Leah changed outfits and we moved to a different spot to get a little texture with some water in the background.  Love this one….

striking goldHere is our fun behind the scenes vine of the afternoon:

Next we moved into downtown Birmingham to get some city shots…  oh – and remember the comment about striking gold?  Leah was rocking some gold and looking great for this next shot!

striking gold

Lastly we used the fountain for a backdrop for this total stunner of a photo – a great one to end on!

striking gold

So there it is – striking gold with Leah – again!  We hope you enjoyed these – we certainly felt lucky to be able to spend a few more hours photographing this girl!

Eden Returns For An Encore!

It’s a great day for us when Eden returns to the studio, in this case it was for an encore from her wonderful winter spokesmodel session back in January!  Eden is pretty and nice and smart and all of those things, but one of her best qualities that really sets her apart is just how flat out funny she is!  She just makes us laugh – she could be a stand up comedian and I’m not joking.  I don’t point that out because we’re about to show you photos that were comic-themed or anything like that – on the contrary, this session has everything to do with her beautiful looks and great style.  I guess we just want you to know that we’re big Eden fans for lots of reasons…

For this session we spent the whole time on location with the goal of getting a nice variety of natural settings as well as a few urban shots.  Let’s start with the natural…

Eden Returns

We just love the look with the hat!  We had some fun with that – just really cute!  We also had fun with a little bird that decided to hang out while we were shooting – we named him “MJ” (don’t ask….lol).  Here he is:

Now back to the photos of Eden…

Eden Returns

We had some great lighting here (with some help from Reflecto) and the little sparkle in Eden’s eyes are called “catchlights” although Eden is fully capable of generating that sparkle on her own!  Haha!

Next we moved over to the waterfall which we like as a backdrop.  We love this next photo:

Eden Returns

Here is our fun behind the scenes vine of the morning:

Lastly we’ll leave you with a photo in the city…

Eden Returns

Love it – and love the breeze giving Eden’s hair that little lift!  Eden’s return was a memorable one for sure – a great encore!

A Nice Day With Nicole, Naturally!

We had a nice day with Nicole, naturally!  I say that for several reasons…  For starters she’s a North Farmington Raider so as Raiders ourselves we always know that’s a natural fit and that we’ll click.  Secondly she’s just a sweet easy going girl and naturally comfortable to be around.  Third she looked naturally pretty for her session, and fourth she pioneered a new spot we hadn’t seen before in a very pretty natural setting – so yeah, it was a nice day with Nicole – naturally!

This was yet another day where we moved up our start time to account for a stormy forecast and we lucked out again with more great weather!  But first we started in the studio where we used the black background first…

Nicole, Naturally

Then we went to a set up that we’ve really liked over the years which is our red victorian style couch against the gold backdrop (really more yellow/orange than gold but Raiders are brown and gold so work with us here).

Nicole, Naturally

Then it was time to head out on location.  The spot we had picked out was a little rough on the eyes – Nicole’s eyes to be exact because the cloud cover at that time of day was causing some intensely bright glare and making her squint.  It’s the double edged sword of having pretty blue eyes because they are more sensitive to light.  So we moved to where we had a little more cover in the woods and came across this really nice bend in the creek encircled by a patch of black-eyed Susans which will now be known going forward as “Nicole’s spot” because she was the first and that’s how we roll here at Frameable Faces…  🙂

Nicole, Naturally

Here is our fun little behind the scenes vine of the day:

Speaking of Nicole’s eyes – we’ll leave you with this one where the blue she’s wearing really brings out her blue eyes and they look gorgeous!

Nicole, Naturally

So there you have it!  The lucky streak of weather continued, and so did the streak of wonderful seniors from the class of 2015!

Maddy The Bat Mitzvah Model!

We had so much fun with Maddy the Bat Mitzvah model recently!  This photo session was a collaboration with Guys N Gals here in the mall since Ms. Maddy’s dress was designed and special ordered from them.  We had to keep these photos under wraps until after the big event since these images were on display for all to see at her party, “Club Maddy”!

Bat Mitzvah Model

First Maddy went to Guys N Gals where she was able to try on various dresses for style and size…

Dress selection

Then she picked out the type and color of fabric she liked…

And here is the fabulous result!!!  Beautiful!!!

Bat Mitzvah Model

A Bar or Bat Mitzvah is really such a special time for a young person and their family, and a professional photo shoot is a fun and unique way to mark the occasion!  The images are great for decorations at the party and they can be based on the theme for the party as well.  The photo session itself can also be a great gift!  Here are a couple more photos from Maddy’s awesome session!

While we are at it… I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention that we are now available to photograph your upcoming event!  In the past if we were asked if we photographed mitzvahs our answer was “not really…”.  For starters it was too difficult to work on weekend nights since we have kids of our own.  So now our event photographer Angela is available and has photographed several bar and bat mitzvahs for us and she has done a fantastic job just as we knew she would!  There will be more details and photos on this to come and in the meantime Angela is available so call us and you can come to the studio to meet her!
