Chloe is the third senior we’ve “borrowed” (hehe) from this family to put in front of Ally’s camera after sisters Alayna & Emily, but the third time is a charm since she’s the first spokesmodel from this fam! All these girls are delightful so it’s not a surprise that Chloe is carrying on the tradition so well, it’s just cool that we get to photograph her twice! Today we’re highlighting a few images from her spokesmodel session and the great day we had with her and her mom Krista as she represents the Birmingham Groves class of 2019!
Third Time’s A Charm….Named Chloe
We wanted to get a few photos in the studio first so we went with the black and blowy which we are doing with every spokesmodel…
Love that…
Next we broke out our pink backdrop which usually makes a couple of appearances in each senior class and we have some fun behind the scenes on this one from Facebook Live!
And here’s a pink pic:
Yassssss.
At this point we headed outside – first to one of our favorite nature preserves for a few photos on a set of flat rocks we call “The Slab”:
And we have more behind the scenes fun from this part of the session from our Instagram Live – this is the raw video without comments from our YouTube Channel.
The last photo we’ll share was at the end of the session and involved a little adventure – a passerby suggested we walk about a “fifth” of a mile down the pathway to a “decking” with a great view. It was more like a mile, we wouldn’t say it was a “decking” even though we’re not totally sure what a “decking” is supposed to be, and it wasn’t much of a view. We were a little salty. BUT – we still got a couple of amazing photos on the trail and this one is definitely one of our favorites from the day!!!
Wowsers! Just stunning….
And that’s a great one to finish with! The third time was definitely a charm with Chloe and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

It’s a blessing to have both of your grandmas and Noah brought them both to the studio for his 3 year old portraits! Noah is a ball of energy and we had a lot of fun! Noah’s mom Jen was here and she’s been here a bunch since one of her older daughters Emily has represented our studio this year for the high school senior class of 2018 – so we love these peeps!
Noah and the grandmas
So let’s get to a few of the highlights! First with the grandmas!!!
So CUTE!
Awesome.
We also have some super fun behind the scenes action from Facebook Live – we got cut off in the middle but it’s still pretty great.
Now how about a couple of the big man himself…
Love this in black and white.
Oh – and almost forgot – like the title says, Noah decided that this photo session needed MORE COWBELL!!! Don’t all sessions need a little cowbell? Hehe…
Yes!!! A fun and special session indeed! We hope you enjoyed our time with Noah and his grandmas!

This was a classic session with Joe – a classic indeed, and on so many levels! For starters while Joe is not a typical dude at all – he’s actually quite a character – he was very typical in that senior portraits were not really on his radar. Not uncommon for plenty of guys. But you see this isn’t our first rodeo, and we know how this usually goes. The guys get dragged in here and by the time we’re done they’ve had a total blast. In that sense this was a classic session because that’s exactly what happened…. Now while Joe may not completely admit it because of the sibling rivalry thing we know his big bro Scotty influenced this a little because he had a great time on his session too!
Classic Indeed….
The thing is, that was only the tip of the iceberg as to why this ended up such a classic session! Joe’s mom Marilyn (whom we LOVE) enlisted the help of a family friend who happens to own a few classic cars including a 1963 Split Window Corvette that we’re pretty sure once belonged to Rick Springfield! Well Joe is a car freak and the opportunity to take a few photos with this beauty basically landed Joe in heaven. We’ll get to those in a minute, but in the meantime we also have a couple of other photos with some fire and Joe’s pup that are pretty great too so let’s start there. First with some Orchard Lake St. Mary’s gear and a flaming bat!
Pretty cool!
When we went outside the pup joined in for a portrait of a senior and his best friend – doesn’t get much better than that…
1963 Split Top Corvette!
Now to the next level of classic… we think Joe might have been pretty happy in this photo….
You’ll get a little more of an idea as Joe takes this beauty for a spin in our Facebook Live behind the scenes – check it out!
And we’ll leave you with one more:
And there you have it! This session was a classic indeed and you can see why! We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with Joe!

When we asked our son Tony who is a junior at Bloomfield Hills High School who did he think would be a perfect spokesmodel at his school – a girl who is nice, social, well liked, smart and fun with a little extra online influence perhaps, the first name he spoke was Kaitlyn. He was spot on! This girl is amazing. Sharp, sweet and with an infectious laugh like no one’s business, she is perfect! And her spokesmodel session was perfect too! It wasn’t easy – while the light was great the wind was not. It was windy as all get out down in the D which can pose a challenge for a girl with long hair, and it wasn’t exactly warm either, but Kaitlyn still rocked it and produced some of the images that we know will prove to live on as Frameable iconic photos. So let’s get to it!
Detroit Takeover With Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn’s mom Sara is a delight as well and she came with us down to Detroit where we started off on Belle Isle as we frequently do when we head down there. The first photo we’re sharing here is the best Detroit Skyline photo we’ve taken and all it took was recognizing that we needed a different vantage point than we’ve used in the past! We couldn’t be happier with how this looks…
Gorgeous Girl!
Now we did a livestream on Instagram but were unable to record it – however we think Kaitlyn’s Snapchat story was just as good so this time we’ll start with that for some of our fun behind the scenes…
An outfit change and here we are with another closer up with our girl…
At this point we headed into downtown to the Belt Alley and got this awesome photo with these vibrant colors!
Here we have some more behind the scenes fun with our Facebook Live Video replay from the Belt – as you can see Tony actually came along with us on Kaitlyn’s session and they took a few photos together which will surface soon….. 🙂
At this point we made one more location change, heading over to some of the more ratchet areas of the Eastern Market for a little urban decay which makes for great photos! We’ll leave you with this one…
Love.
And there you have it – a spectacular spokesmodel Detroit takeover with Kaitlyn! We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with her and we cannot wait to do it again for her senior pictures soon!!!

Man do we love one year olds. They are so fun at that stage as their little personalities are developing and this dude – Enzo – has personality to burn! Plus he’s a hunka chunka and we had a blast with him and his mommy Ashley for his one year photos! He was here last with his sibs when he was 6 months old and this time around he had an awesome multi layered birthday cake with him. So the stage was set….
Enzo is back
First Ashley had Enzo stylin’ before we got to the cake and we broke out the blue/grey backdrop for a few portraits – we’ll start with those!
Okay how yummy is he?
We also have some fun behind the scenes with the fun Facebook Live we did – here’s the replay:
And one more on the blue in the basket…
Haha! So cute!!! How great is that bowtie?
Let him eat cake!
Now it was time to get to the cake! And what a cake – check it out… you can feel the anticipation! Lol…
We’ll leave you with one more as Enzo was getting his feast on!
Now that’s a happy kid.
And there you have it! To be one and awesome – that’s Enzo! We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with him!

What can we say about Tori and the hands of fate that were all over this story from how and when we found her all the way to the epic spokesmodel session with her and her mom Lora in the YAK! The “yak” would be Pontiac which is where Tori was born hehe… Let’s just say we already have multiple inside jokes and stories from our short time knowing each other – we just seemed to fit from the first minute.
It all started with Tori’s mom Lora walking into the studio and asking about senior pictures really early in the game for the class of 2019 at the urging of another senior mom we love while we were (and kinda still are) in recruiting mode for our new crew. When she told us her daughter went to West Bloomfield Ally and I looked at each other right away and both our wheels were turning… Next thing you know we had Lora and Tori come for a little pow wow and we knew immediately we wanted her on our team! The rest is his-TORI!!! See what I did there? Let’s see how many ways I can work Tori’s name into this blog post lol…
A Vic-TORI-ous Session
We decided on Pontiac as I mentioned earlier on a fairly chilly day and even with some technical difficulties with Ally’s new off camera flash we still pulled off a handful of outstanding photos! Let’s get to a few…
How adorable is she? Let’s also give a shout out here to Yasmeen at The Beauty Lounge for Tori’s makeup and Natalie at Mandy Rose Studio for Tori’s hair!
Let’s also take a look at the hilarious behind the scenes Facebook Live – we LOVE this girl…. haha!
One more photo outdoors before we move to the next phase…
Love. Great style on Tori here and we are pretty pleased with the lighting (when it worked)! That’s the nice thing about spokesmodel sessions – they are a great opportunity to try out new spots, new equipment and new techniques, and while Ally was a little frustrated fighting with the equipment we do love the results!
At this point we headed over to the Flagstar Strand Theatre which you should check out for a show if you get a chance – what a gem of a venue in downtown Pontiac and special thanks goes to them for the access. They set us up in the dressing room where we decided on a whim to get a few really fun shots of the star backstage like this one!
We played around in the theatre and got some cool stuff but the lighting and the angles we tried were a bit challenging. We’ll go back and try again at some point – you can get a sense of what we were doing in this fun Instagram Live we did from inside…
A couple of behind the scenes shots like the pano I grabbed and the shot Lora took below are pretty cool too – they give you an idea of what we were trying to do even if the finished images weren’t quite ready for prime time…
Now we’ll head outside for one more photo which could be our fave of the day with Tori in a cute winter hat…
Just love that one!!! Gorgeous girl.
And that’s a great way to end it for now – we are thrilled to have Tori representing our studio and we cannot wait to get her in front of Ally’s camera again! We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!

Yes Claudia closed in on awesomeness on her senior spokesmodel session and…. oh heck – what am I saying she totally got to awesomeness! You’ll see for yourself in a sec…. Claudia is another North Farmington Raider like us so we expected nothing but the best results and we got them on what was a really chilly day, but Claudia was a trooper and along with her mom Sandy we had a blast capturing some awesome images for Claudia to represent the studio for the class of 2019 with!
Claudia Closes In On Awesomeness
We focused mainly on outdoor photos with Claudia in Birmingham and that’s where we’ll start with a couple at Quarton Lake:
Stunning! The shimmering sparkle of the water and the off camera flash makes for a perfectly composed photo with this beauty if we do say so ourselves….
We also have some fun behind the scenes as usual – first with the replay of our Instagram Live video:
And let’s look at one more from the water…
Love it!
At this point we headed over to downtown Birmingham to get a few poses with an urban feel and that gave us this one:
We have one more behind the scenes livestream replay for you – this one from Facebook Live:
After the last outdoor shot we warmed up and headed back to the studio to get a few on the black background. We’re actually doing at least one of these with every spokesmodel this year so we can do something fun with all of the shots at the end… Love this close up:
And there you have it – awesomeness indeed! Claudia rocked it and we are so happy to have her representing our studio for the class of 2019!!!

The Octopus is a really cool animal. They’re smart, fascinating to watch, and there are 289 kinds of them! But why have they become a symbol of a local independent photography studio in West Bloomfield, MI where none of them live within thousands of miles? Let’s find out…
How The Octopus Became A Symbol At Frameable Faces
As you may know we name a lot of stuff here. We name locations for the seniors who pioneer them, we name equipment and some of them even take on their own personas and start tweeting, sitting down for interviews…. etc. Oy.
Meanwhile we have a studio light that is octagonal shaped and we started referring to “him” as “Octo” just for fun. That was how this whole thing started. You see, over the last few years (it will actually be exactly 3 years on 3/31/18) we have been periscoping as you may know, and along the way The📷Doug&Ally📷Morning Show!🎙☕ became a thing. We made the trending list on the app which is owned by and integrated with Twitter as “Twitter Live” and we now have over 22k followers literally around the world. At some point during the show when a newbie shows up we welcome them and give a tour of the studio, and the tour itself has become a daily event with many recurring hallmarks and themes of its own – one of which is Octo which somewhere along the way became “The World Famous Frameable Faces Octopus”. Not sure the exact origins of this can be traced beyond the likely scenario of someone thinking I said Octopus one day instead of Octobox, and…..well…..take a look below and you’ll get an idea of what has happened:
Yes the World Famous Frameable Faces Octopus gave way to the rise of the #Octosquad! Our friend Lauren (@Sound_Of_Boots) usually makes the announcement and everyone gets their octo on. Pretty much anyone can be a member of the Octosquad, just like anyone can be a Frameable – it’s an attitude, a lifestyle if you will, and you just jump on in!
Since then octopuses (yes that’s the proper plural of octopus) have been popping up everywhere. In the studio….
That’s the octo we brought back from the Keys with his partner Fitzy’s Maine Lobster. Fitzy is one of our Periscope friends who sent us that from his trip to Maine.
These little octos who sit by Doug’s computer were a gift by Periscope friends Jacqui Of All Trades and Laughing Leo who brought them to the studio on a visit…
We even found a tiny octo with our friend Steve (Steve named him Ocho) in a bucket down in the Florida Keys on the Frameable Faces 2017 Spring Break Tour…
Octos even adorn our bookmarks which we’ve been giving out as rewards for subscribers of our Patreon page… Our friend @McFannie showed hers off with a tweet!
It’s gotten to be such a big deal that Reflecto seems to be getting a little salty about it…
He’ll get over it….
And there you have it! Now you know how the #Octosquad was born and how the Octopus became such a symbol of Frameable Faces! We hope you’ll join the Octosquad too!

Morgan has been on the radar here for a while – usually we’re the ones out recruiting seniors to be our spokesmodels, but this time it was Morgan who recruited us! You could say that she skated right into our zone, shot and scored, and we’re pretty happy that she did! In all seriousness, we couldn’t have known that the U.S. Women’s Hockey team would make the type of splash that they did with the gold medal shootout in this year’s Olympics in PyeongChang in such dramatic fashion when we started talking to Morgan, but now that it happened and it has brought women’s hockey into the spotlight more than ever we are even more excited to work with Morgan. She and her mom Jodi brought so much energy (not to mention cupcakes) to the studio and Morgan personifies everything that is great about these athletes – a sweetheart who can go cute, glam, playful, and pretty but is also dead serious about her hockey and can kick your ass. We definitely scored a hat trick with spokesmodel Morgan.
A Photographic Hat Trick With Spokesmodel Morgan!
So in this case we’ve got the brains, brawn and beauty hat trick, and we’ll start with the brawn/beauty combo before we go to just beauty – as for the brains you’ll just have to take our word for it!
How cool!!! We can’t look at this photo without being reminded of last year’s spokesmodel kickoff with another bad ass beauty you may remember – Olivia! This time Morgan combining the black and blowy setup with the sports theme gave us a killer result!
We also have some behind the scenes fun as usual – first with our Instagram Livestream that we have posted on our YouTube channel – take a look (and we apologize for some of the audio trouble on this one – seems like user error as yours truly may have been covering the mic with a finger or thumb….)!
Moving right along let’s take a look at a couple more outfits and backdrops starting with the Def Leppard rocker chick look! And why not – Photograph is the best rock song about photography ever isn’t it? You can actually read about that right here on this blog in this piece I wrote back in 2013 about the top 10 songs about photography, but I digress…. Check out this rockin’ shot of Morgan…
Got a photograph!!! Picture of!!!
Now let’s go to a change of pace, and style as we move over to the purple and this super cute outfit:
Pretty in Purple!
We have one more behind the scenes livestream too – this time on Facebook Live and this was a fun family affair with many of Morgan’s crew chiming in on the live broadcast – including some hilarious trolling from her little brother. Hehe… As a side note this was our very first Facebook Creator livestream that includes the fancy shmancy intro and outro! Check it out!
We’ll leave you now with one more photo from the brown backdrop with this fun and playful close up of our girl:
Awesome and adorable.
And there you have it – a hat trick indeed and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with Morgan! The class of 2019 is off to a fantastic start!

We have always offered custom framing here at Frameable Faces, but frankly we never did it as well as we could. Now that’s not to say that when we custom framed a piece for a client it wasn’t fantastic because it was – pretty much without exception. The problem was we weren’t always as efficient as we could have been and we didn’t talk about it enough which is probably why we weren’t creating the amazing pieces we are now. You see we’ve revamped our entire approach to framing – bringing in a vendor who has been in the game for a long time with an amazing eye and lightning fast turnarounds. Our clients have already seen a difference. Just as an example in our studio alone this photo of Mikaela one of our past seniors always catches everyone’s eye because it’s so stunning.
We decided to print it again and frame it for the window…
So okay, this is very exciting right? But does it make for a very exciting blog post just to say we are doing some awesome custom framing now? Sounds a little salesy or infomercially. But I was having trouble coming up with an exciting, entertaining and valuable way to present it – you know a way that would generate tons of hits to our blog and tons of custom framing sales without selling at you all.
Writer’s Block?
I was stumped. In the past when I’ve been stumped I’ve turned to my handy dandy Portent’s Content Idea Generator to get some wonderful ideas for blogging. I found 7 really great ones so why just stick to one? I want to wow you about custom framing after all right? So let’s not hold back – let’s do ’em all. This could be awesome. Or…..it could be a disaster.
7 Reasons This Blog Post About Custom Framing Could Be A Disaster
1.
You love the Biebs. Of course you love the Biebs. Who doesn’t love the Biebs? Not…..me of course. I uh, love him – yeah that’s it. And guess what? 1) Every portrait Justin has in his house is CUSTOM FRAMED so you should really consider doing that, 2) The Biebs thought about getting a dog once and decided a photo of a dog in a CUSTOM FRAME would be just as good and it wouldn’t poop on the floor, and 3) The Biebs has a massive CUSTOM FRAME of the lyric “Baby Baby Baby” in his great room and it’s a huge hit when he entertains.
2.
Okay there is NO way I have time to research 11 reasons the Amish were right about custom framing. Besides is there even a way to research that without visiting the Amish themselves? This blog post is going South already….
3.
Totally. This is absolutely a thing. If you are having problems in your marriage the only thing you need to fix it is a formal portrait together in a glorious custom frame that you can see when you walk in the door as a reminder of your immense love for each other. Done. Doesn’t even matter if one of you snores (ALLEGEDLY). Phew – okay that was an easy one.
4.
Well YEAH….. of course it’s a Blankety-Blank. Wait, actually that sounds bad. Is this helping here?
5.
13? I don’t have time for this. Maybe this was a mistake – I could think of 13 for a single post but all that work for just a 7th of a post? Okay let’s try a few: 1) Everyone assumes a custom frame will fall off the wall and land on their head. NOT TRUE in most cases. With good craftmanship and a wire on the back it should stay on the wall. 2) Everyone thinks custom framing costs an arm and a leg. NOT TRUE but maybe just an arm. Hey you don’t want garbage on your walls do you? 3) That’s enough – you get the idea….
6.
Okay Portent’s Content Idea Generator what kind of an idea is this??? Really? Um…. I don’t know use a wad of gum to – oh forget it.
7.
There are plenty of reasons to be talking about custom framing! Probably even more than 9. And while canvas, acrylic, and metal are all great ways to display your photos as well, don’t forget about custom framing! You can match your decor and put something on your wall that you can be proud of for years, and we can help you! Okay that was slightly salesy but it’s totally true.
