Jake Was The Symbol And The Superhero Of This Senior Session!

When Jake came in for his senior consultation with his mom Jen we proceeded to have a fun and healthy debate about superheroes.  Now actually I’m not really a superhero guy and I quickly found out that I was pretty overmatched, but I think I hung in there…..kinda.  In any event Jake is clearly inspired as millions are by superheroes – Batman and Iron Man in particular.  So I went searching around and found this awesome quote from Batman Begins:

Bruce Wayne Quote

I think this quote is appropriate for this photo session for a couple of reasons…  For starters I think this whole idea applies to photographs in general.  Photos can preserve a moment, a person – they can be everlasting.  That’s part of the appeal of what we do here whether we’re making new photos or restoring old ones.  Senior pictures capture such a cool time in a young guy like Jake’s life!  So hold on to that thought for a minute and we’ll come back to it…

Jake The Superhero!

Let’s start with the Batman inspiration in the studio for our first sneak peak…

Superhero

Awesome.

Here’s the behind the scenes vine from the day….

We also did plenty of broadcasting that day on Periscope and Facebook Live.  Okay maybe we went a little crazy – I’ve actually done a collab with Jake’s mom Jen who is also known as Princess Pinky Girl online so she’s a natural on camera as was Jake!  Much fun!  If you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you can do it and be a part of our broadcasts here or you can just watch on twitter here.

First in the studio:

Next it’s the first of our location broadcasts at Heritage Park:

And here is one of our shots of this fine young lad in the great outdoors…

Superhero

Let’s see a little more of our behind the scenes from Facebook Live – we actually spent a lot of time cracking up on this session…  Jake is a funny dude.

And here we have a shot of Jake chillin’…

Superhero

Lastly I want to bring it back to that Batman quote from earlier.  Here’s where it ties it all together….

Bruce Wayne said as a symbol he could be incorruptible.  He could be everlasting.  That’s what we achieved with Jake on this last photo which was a first for us, and an idea that Jen brought in.  It’s a silhouette that captures the spirit of being a senior – with your life ahead of you.  Incorruptible.  Everlasting.  Arms up to the sky!  This photo could be anyone.  You can’t necessarily tell it’s Jake, and yet it IS Jake.  A symbol – and a powerful one at that….

Superhero

So cool….

Here’s the behind the scenes of us creating that photo!

And that’s the story!  Jake was the symbol and the superhero and we will always remember this session!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with him!

We Are Literally In Love With Lily And Her Senior Session!

Lily is easy to “fall in love” with – she’s just cool.  She gets it – outgoing, beautiful, really talented, smart, and a friend of our Lacey’s!  She’s the total package!  She has represented our studio this year as a spokesmodel for the class of 2017 and we’ve photographed her a few times now so we know it’s going to be a great day when Lily is in front of Ally’s camera!

It’s also a rare occasion that we have the opportunity to photograph a session at Cranbrook because you need to be an approved vendor or have some kind of special permission.  Cranbrook is obviously beautiful and with perfect weather (even if it was a little hot) the planets were aligned so to speak.  Lily definitely delivered and her mom Amy came with us too – she’s a delight.  So let’s get to some highlights of our day!

In Love With Lily…

This entire session was on location since we were able to get some nice studio stuff on Lily’s spokesmodel session already.  So let’s get to it…

Lily

Love this bridge by the Japanese gardens.  How cute is she?

By the way let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes fun we had – first with a 6 second Vine for your looping pleasure…

We also have one Periscope broadcast to share but it wasn’t easy… there wasn’t much of a signal on Cranbrook’s campus so we only have the one replay here for your extended viewing!  You can watch our broadcasts at @FrameableFaces on Twitter here or join in the broadcasts on Periscope on your smartphone with the app here!

Now let’s get back to more photos!

Lily

Love it!

The lighting was fantastic for this next photo and we love the pose – Lily really rocked it – she’s a pro.

Lily

For the last photo we found a waterfall that was not easy to get to, but it was totally worth it – what a great spot!

Lily

Great one to end on!  Love this girl indeed and we hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day with Lily!

Kylie Killed It On Her Senior Session – Not Even Kinda Kidding

Kylie killed it on her senior session.  What does that mean exactly?  It means she owned it, slayed it, rocked it, kicked major butt, looked amazing, had fun – you know, all of that stuff.  It wasn’t the first time Kylie had been in front of Ally’s camera since she used to come here to the studio for dance photos, but this was completely different.  We planned this session out with an epic sprawl of locations, technique, timing, style and general awesomeness.  Kylie’s mom Kelly joined us and we had a great time – we’ve been excited to show these!

First In The Studio…

We started out in the studio where we worked with our signature “black and blowy” setup which we love – sometimes black clothes against the black backdrop looks so cool when you know how to light it, and Kylie looks beautiful here…

Kylie Killed

Stunning!

Before we head out to the location photos let’s take a look at some of the behind the scenes fun from our day shall we?  First we have our 6 second looping Vine:

Next we have the replay of our live Periscope / Twitter broadcasts for a more extended view of the session!  If you haven’t downloaded the Periscope app or followed us on Twitter you can do that here and here.

First we have the studio broadcast…

And next the beach broadcast – really more of our walk to the beach – we’ll get to those photos in a sec…

Kylie Killed It…

So as you can tell the session got off to a good start in the studio and the location photos followed suit!  First we headed over to Birmingham to get a few photos in the city like this one:

Kylie Killed

Then to finish up we headed over to Dodge Park at Cass Lake to get a couple photos at the beach and with the water in the background – these are fabulous and this was Kylie’s idea!

Kylie Killed

We’ll leave you with this one with a pretty sailboat that came right into the frame – very cool!

Kylie Killed

So yeah Kylie killed it as you can see, and we are thrilled with the results!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

Ryan Leads The Way For The Guys For The Class Of 2017!

Ryan’s session is the first official senior guy session for the class of 2017 and he definitely led the way in style!  We have known Ryan for a long time but not well – one of those things where we’ve known his family and more specifically his mom Jodie going back to high school days.  We photographed him before when we did family photos for them, but this was the first time we really hung out with Ryan for an extended time and we really had a lot of fun with him!

Focused dude…

One of the things that impressed us about Ryan (and you’ll see this if you watch the Periscope replay) is when asked by a couple of viewers of our live broadcast what subject he likes the most and what he wants to study he didn’t hesitate – just matter of factly answered “Econ” and “Business”.  I didn’t really have a clue at that age, so kudos to Ryan!  As for the session, he came solo and had two different dress shirts for the formal shots to go with the casual stuff.  Totally prepared – clean cut and ready to rock (not just with the photos but the kid likes classic rock too – which instantly makes him cool).  So let’s get ready to rock here, starting with our studio photos…

We started with the formal look with the grey fabric backdrop – this is a combo we like a lot!

Ryan Leads

GQ!  What a stud.

Next we moved to a little bit more of a casual look with a sweater for this one…

Ryan Leads

Looking good with the black background!

Before we head to the location photos let’s look at the behind the scenes action shall we?  First with our fun 6 second looping Vine where Ally is having a little fun with Ryan – haha!

Even his Snapchat story was pretty epic which you can check out on Slinger at this link!

Next we have the replay of our live Periscope broadcasts from our YouTube channel for your extended viewing pleasure!  Download Periscope and follow us at @FrameableFaces and/or watch the broadcasts on Twitter!

Ryan Leads Us…To The Location!

Heritage Park is a great location for outdoor sessions and we got some great stuff with Ryan.  This was a later session where we planned to get some off camera flash going and the results are fantastic…

First we have a nice close up with the barn in the background…

Ryan Leads

And lastly an off camera flash photo…

Ryan Leads

Cool!

And there you have it – Ryan leads the way for the guys and we are really off and running with this senior class!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our time with Ryan!

Doug’s Amateur 2017 Spokesmodel Panoramas!

I am NOT a professional photographer.  Let’s get that straight – and I will not be any time soon.  I have always loved photography, always had a camera and have always had a nice amateur eye.  So being in the photography business with my amazing professional photographer wife Ally has given me a chance to be involved in it, and to play around with the behind the scenes photos when I’m creating content to promote what we do.

iPhoneography…

Meanwhile the cameras on iPhones and smartphones in general have become better and better – the quality is quite amazing for everyday amateur use and the tools and filters let you have a lot of fun.  We’ve always said that the more people appreciate everyday photography the more they will appreciate professional photography, and we embrace the technology and use it to highlight the photos we take for our clients.

To that end I’ve become fond of the Panorama option on the iPhone, and I made sure to grab a pano of each spokesmodel session for the class of 2017.  I thought maybe these could make a fun blog post and so here we go…..!  These are unfiltered by the way with the exception of Ally brightening one or two of them.

2017 Spokesmodel Panoramas!

With Lily we went to Heritage Park in Farmington Hills and I got Ally here in action with Lily under this pretty trellis.

Kinda neat huh?  We hope you enjoyed these class of 2017 spokesmodel panoramas!  Let us know what you think!

Havin’ Fun With Haven On Her Spokesmodel Session!

Haven is a gem.  We’ve known this for a while since her older sister Jubilee was a spokesmodel for us for the class of 2015 and Haven has been friendly with our daughter Lacey since they started high school.  Notice a theme here?  Our spokesmodels this year are largely “Lacey approved” since this is her graduating class!  Haha – well that hasn’t actually been our main criteria but we think Lacey has good taste and we had a feeling that Haven would be a great spokesmodel when we met her a couple years ago.  We decided to spend Haven’s whole session in the studio since our weather wasn’t so cooperative and as we’ve always said sometimes it’s nice to just stay in the studio to relax and play with some different combinations, colors, backdrops, furniture, floors etc…  So yes – we were havin’ fun with Haven!

Havin’ Fun With Haven…

So we started out with the tan paper backdrop which was perfect for Haven’s first outfit.  We love the earth tones here along with her skin tone – it all comes together really nicely!

Haven

Oh and it doesn’t hurt that she’s stunningly gorgeous!

We also experimented on this day for the very first time with our new Snapchat on-demand geofilter!  Our Periscope friend Vincenzo Landino wrote this article on these and we jumped on it!  It worked out nicely and we’ll be playing with this more down the road – it’s not permanently available but we’ll announce the days it’s on on twitter.  Here is a snap that Haven herself sent out that day… the little circle in the middle of her forehead is the snapchat timer while I was grabbing the screenshot.

Haven

Check out the snazzy Frameable Faces filter!

Here is the geofence we submitted to snapchat that shows where the filter was available – in and around our studio and down the common hallways of the mall!

Here is the first snapchat video we sent out with our filter – as you can see we had some snapchat fun that day!

Okay let’s get back to a few more photos…!

Let’s move on to the purple background – this purple is really vibrant and we combined it with our light wood floor and a molding to create a “room” look:

Haven

Let’s also check out some more behind the scenes – first with a fun little looping Vine:

…and next we also have a couple replays of our live Periscope broadcasts from our Katch.me page – if you haven’t downloaded Periscope yet you need to!  Tune in for Frameable Faces TV at @frameablefaces by downloading the app here!

At this point we moved to the grey backdrop with a chair that we used for the first time a couple years ago with Haven’s sister Jubilee!  We love the way it’s ripped up in the front…

Haven

Now let’s check out our second broadcast from the session during which time we switched to the black backdrop:

And here is one of the results!

Haven

That’s a fantastic note to end this on….  we are thrilled to have this girl representing our studio this year and we look forward to her senior session later in the year!!!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!

Our Very Own Spokesmodel – Lacey Lights It Up!

Lacey lights up the blog with these highlights from her spokesmodel session, and why not?  She’s been lighting up our lives for almost 17 years – heck she was the original inspiration for the existence of what eventually became Frameable Faces when her arrival inspired Ally to pick up a camera!  We’ll try to contain our glee for sharing these photos and keep it somewhat professional, but it could be tough…. lol.

Our Very Own Spokesmodel

It is a bit surreal to say the least to be coming up on Lacey’s senior year and to have her (and even a few of her friends) spokesmodeling for the studio.  She is used to being in front of Ally’s camera as you can imagine but this was different and we approached it like we would any other senior and she delivered with the best of them.  We spent most of the session in Detroit – the city is seeing a massive comeback the likes of which we haven’t seen anything like in our lifetime so we’re spending a little time down there.  We’ll be offering Detroit sessions for an added fee this year to account for the time and travel.  Detroit is in demand and we’ve enjoyed hanging out down there a lot lately – for sessions and just for fun.

Lacey Lights

That’s our baby!  Let’s give a shout out here as well to Mandy at Mandy Rose Salon in West Bloomfield for Lacey’s makeup!

Keep in mind that there are some amazing photo ops in Detroit, but at the end of the day it still comes back to the senior.  The stunning photo above could have been any brick wall – it’s the lighting, the talent of the photographer, and the GIRL that makes the photo…

Now having said that, this next photo isn’t one you could find just anywhere and there are plenty of great spots in the city, more of which we’ll explore with other spokesmodels.

Lacey Lights

Pretty cool huh?

Before we move on to a couple more photos let’s take a look at our behind the scenes footage of our day – first with our fun 6 second looping Vine:

Next we have the replays of our live Periscope broadcasts from the day on our YouTube channel.  If you still haven’t downloaded the Apple store app of 2015 you can do so here, follow us at @frameablefaces and come along on our senior photo shoots for the rest of the class of 2017 along with lots of other shows that we broadcast!

First at the Russel Industrial Center:

Next at Belle Isle:

And lastly at the Dequindre Cut:

Lacey Lights It Up!

At this point as you saw in the broadcasts above we headed over to Belle Isle and explored a little and that’s where we captured this one:

Lacey Lights

Oh hello Lacey!  Hehe…

Lastly we headed over to the Dequindre Cut and this was one of the last shots of the evening with a little off camera flash as the light started to fade…

Lacey Lights

Love it.  And LOVE her.  And there you have it – Lacey lights us up whenever we think of her and she lit it up that day!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights of her session!  We’re pretty proud of the photos and of our girl.

Lily Leads The Way For Our Class of 2017 Spokesmodels!

Lily leads the way for the spokesmodels of the class of 2017 with these highlights from her session and we are thrilled about it!  It’s that time of year again where we start to introduce the young peeps who will represent our studio for the upcoming class of seniors for the school year of 2016-17!  This is such a fun time for us as we put together our new team, build relationships with new friends, have amazing photo sessions and present these awesome guys and gals to you!

Lily Leads…

Lily will be a senior in the fall at Bloomfield Hills High School and she’s a really talented dancer!  She is also a friend of our daughter Lacey (also a spokesmodel) so we got the “seal of approval” on Lily….  haha!  We definitely fell for her the first time we met her – actually Ally met her before I did at a Starbucks when she was with Lacey and Ally raved about her.  Her mom Amy is a delight as well – she joined us on this session and we had a ton of fun!  We’ll start in the studio with a brand new backdrop that we got from Ambrelee Taylor at Peek A Boutique Design Co.  We actually met Ambrelee on Periscope (more on Periscope in a bit) and this is the Hollis backdrop:

Lily Leads

How adorable is she?  We love kicking off the new class with Lily!  The rest of the photos we’ll share for now are all on location at a graffiti wall and then at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills.  First the graffiti:

Lily Leads

We’ve always been a fan of that look!

Before we head on location we will continue as we did last year with our behind the scenes fun, first on Vine for your 6 second looping pleasure:

Next we have the replays of our live Periscope broadcasts from our day on our YouTube channel.  If you download Periscope you can tune in live at @frameablefaces, join in the fun and get some ideas for your own sessions at this link!

Periscope was the app of the year in the Apple Store for 2015 and it’s owned by twitter – you can join our worldwide audience in our broadcasts and you can comment along and be part of the show!  Here is the broadcast from the studio:

And here is the broadcast from on location:

Lily Leads us to Heritage Park

We had a perfect day for our location – mild as can be!

Lily Leads

And we’ll leave you with one more for now… we love hats and headbands – accessories make for some fantastic photos!

Lily Leads

Gorgeous!  If Lily’s photos are any indication, we are going to have an amazing class of seniors this year!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our day with her and we hope you’ll come along for the ride!

Looking For A Winning Senior Session? It’s Naiel By A Mile!

Naiel is a great kid – another in a long line of them from the class of 2016.  It’s been a great year for our seniors and this session was another winner!  It’s really nice to see a senior guy have such a great relationship with his mom too – Hina joined us on the session and what a pleasure she is!  This was a Saturday morning session which we like to start on location when the lighting is better outside, so we met them at Heritage Park to begin the fun.

Winning…!

Hehe…  yes we won that day – big time!  Awesome time and awesome session.  Naiel is a handsome dude and he did a great job.  Let’s get to a few of the highlights!  First we have a pretty cool relaxed pose against a tree that we really like:

Naiel

I really like that one with Naiel looking off camera…

Next we have a spot we found that we never used before at Heritage Park which going forward will be known as “Naiel’s Spot” since that’s how we roll here at Frameable Faces.

Naiel

Before we head back for the studio photos let’s take a look at our behind the scenes action from our day.  First as we usually do we have our 6 second vine for your looping pleasure:

Next we have the Katch.me replays of our live Periscope broadcasts which were a lot of fun as you’ll see.  If you still have not downloaded Periscope for your mobile device you can do so and follow us at @frameablefaces here.

First the location broadcast:

And now the studio broadcast!

Naiel By A Mile…

Let’s cross the finish line back in the studio on the black backdrop!  First with a more formal shot – the guy has style!

Naiel

And lastly this sitting photo a little closer up…

Naiel

And so it was – a real winner of a session with Naiel!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights of our morning with him!

Hanging Out In The City With Cool Kid Cooper!

Cooper is a cool dude.  He’s got a laid back yet confident style and he’s a good kid.  We really enjoyed hanging out with him, and as has been the case often this year it was a little surreal for me because I used to work with his mom Carolyn way back in a former former former life for me – my first job out of college!  I’ve always liked Carolyn and it was a lot of fun to have her at the studio with her son!

Cool Kid Cooper…

Meanwhile it wasn’t a surprise to me that we really liked this guy.  He brought his pup to Pontiac for a couple of shots which was a lot of fun and actually a first for us – we’ve photographed many pets but never on location in an urban setting so that was really cool!  So let’s get to some of the photos…!

We really only did the yearbook headshot in the studio so let’s stick to the city shots – first with Cooper and his pup Tucker!

Cool Kid Cooper

Tucker smiled for the camera!

Before we look at the rest of the sneak peeks let’s see our behind the scenes footage of our day in Pontiac.  First with our six second looping Vine:

Next we have the replay of our Periscope live broadcast which is posted on our YouTube channel – you can download the Periscope app and follow us there at this link:

Okay back to the photos!  Let’s look at a few of this cool kid by himself!

Cool Kid Cooper

Those colors are awesome and Cooper is a stud!  Now let’s take a closer look at our guy…

Cool Kid Cooper

And one more on a spot we’ve only recently discovered – lots of nooks and crannies in Pontiac like this one…

Cool Kid Cooper

Awesome huh?  We really like Cooper and we had a great time on this session!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day!
