A Joyous Senior Session With Jubilee!

We knew we were in store for a joyous senior session with Jubilee because this girl makes us smile every time we are with her!  When you look up the word “jubilee” in the dictionary you see words like “celebration” and “rejoicing” and words like that are fitting when she’s around.  She just lights up the room when she walks in – so at the risk of embarrassing her, yes – we like to gush about her!

You might remember Jubilee from her spokesmodel session earlier this year and we have been so happy to have her representing our studio.  At that time we wanted to focus the location portion of the shoot on an urban theme, so this time around we spent most of the session with a pretty and natural setting which we did at a private location.

We had a lot of fun together on this morning, and we had a little luck too because the forecast was not looking good as of the day before, but it cleared up and we had a perfect morning after all.  Even Jubilee’s pup Simba got into one of the photos!

We’ll leave you with one more shot on location before we head back to the studio to wrap it up….  So beautiful with the waterfall in the background!

Here is our fun behind the scenes vine of the morning…

As you can see in the vine we played with fire as we often do when we got back to the studio!  We also acquired a new chair which we were anxious to break in and Jubilee really wanted to be the first – so as we always do we name a new spot or prop after the first senior to use it.  So now it’s “Jubilee’s chair” (even though Reflecto tried to claim it first)!

So there you have it!  We hope you enjoyed these highlights from Jubilee’s Joyous Senior Session!  We certainly did!

Alesha Leads The Way For The Class of 2015!

Alesha leads the way for the class of 2015 with these photos from her spectacular senior session!  You already saw 14 members of this class as spokesmodels and those are “our” sessions where we test out new ideas.  We wrapped those up and now going forward the class of 2015 sessions belong to the seniors!

As for Alesha we have become very big fans of this girl in a very short time and we were very excited to photograph her.  We were itching to get going with our new seniors and we already had one rain out so we were not happy when we woke up to pouring rain and even some thunder on the morning of her scheduled photo shoot.  We had our eyes on the hourly forecast and it stayed pretty true to the prediction of better weather in the afternoon so we kept the appointment and crossed our fingers…

We started in the studio with our black background:Alesha Leads

Next we moved over to the white, but with a blue gel.  Using colored gels over our lights allows us to manipulate the color a bit which gives us a cool look.  Alesha looks great in the red against the blue!  This would probably be a good time to give a shout out to Gloria at The Beauty Lounge for the makeup with this close-up!

At this point we were ready to head outside and as luck would have it “outside” was ready for us!  The weather cleared up and we had a perfect afternoon!  Here is a fun little vine with a couple highlights of the day:

Love love love these next two photos – the lighting and all the green in this one is amazing!  Alesha has a natural and easy smile and this photo just works.

Alesha Leads

Alesha was a trooper – it’s a little yucky where she got in the water and she stood there and waited for one very large cloud to pass so we could get the lighting we wanted!  We took a series of photos here and here is one we like that has a bit of a unique look in black and white.

We enjoyed our time with Alesha and we are so glad to know her!  We hope you enjoyed these photos!

Rachel Rocked Her Spokesmodel Session!

Yes Rachel rocked her spokesmodel session and we loved it!  Rachel and our own daughter are friends which made this extra special for us, and we must say our Lacey has good taste in friends.  We love Rachel’s red hair and green eyes and could not wait to get outside on location with her in some rural and natural settings.  The red hair against a barn for example?  Yes!  Ally was brimming with ideas for this one and Rachel delivered for sure.

Rachel Rocked Her Spokesmodel Session

We started out with our black and blowy set up and a green shirt to bring out Rachel’s green eyes.  Just stunning really!  We love this.  That was all we did in the studio.  As we mentioned in a previous post our remaining spokesmodel sessions for the class of 2015 will mostly be outside now that the weather is (mostly) warming up.

Next we went to a barn as we mentioned earlier and we got this awesome result.  So pretty!

Here is our behind the scenes vine of the session starting with the barn and then moving on to a trail where we focused on some more natural settings of trees and water.

A Senior Spokesmodel Jubilee…Literally!

A Jubilee is a type of celebration and we want to share a few peeks from a senior spokesmodel Jubilee…literally!  Jubilee is her name and being around her makes you want to celebrate!  She is smart, funny, pretty and the type of person who lights up a room when she walks in.  We were looking forward to this day for sure.

Senior Spokesmodel Jubilee

As we have done with every spokesmodel for the class of 2015 we spent a little time with the black background.  It seems like a good “warmup” for us to get a session going and it always looks fantastic.  Meanwhile our game plan for this session was to get outside and get some photos in an urban setting.  We have been itching to get some since the only outdoor photos we were able to get so far were snowy.  We love the snow scenes but with the temperatures warming a little we thought we could walk around outside comfortably and get some shots on pavement without snow around.  It turned out we were half right…

Senior Spokesmodel Jubilee

The part we were right about was that we were able to get great shots in an urban setting without any snow around.  The part we were wrong about was that we would be able to comfortably walk around outside.  It was still really cold – windy and frigid!  Jubilee however was a total pro and did not let the cold affect her!

Senior Spokesmodel Jubilee

While it may have been cold we still had some sunlight and the backlight looks nice in the photo above.  The last thing we did was an experiment that we had not tried before and we think it yielded an interesting result.  There was a glass-enclosed stairwell in a parking structure and I suggested that Ally photograph Jubilee through the glass just to see how it would look…  here is a little behind-the-scenes vine:

A Spokesmodel Session With Annabel 5 Years Later!

A spokesmodel session with Annabel 5 years later?  Later than what?  Let me explain.  Almost 5 years ago a 12 year old Annabel was in the mall with her dad not too long after we set up shop in our studio and she brought him in here and told him they needed to do some family pictures!  He listened and we did a really fun outdoor fall session with her dad, brother and grandparents back in 2009.  We also photographed Annabel’s brother Harry for his senior photos, one of which is featured here (he’s the one with the flaming baseball bat).  We knew they were good people from the beginning and we have been talking to Annabel about being a spokesmodel ever since.

Spokesmodel session with Annabel

For all intents and purposes she has been doing it for a while now – referring seniors to our studio and recommending other spokesmodels from the classes before hers.  Last year we featured her and one of our class of ’13 spokesmodels Sierra in a blog post announcing our BFF mini sessions, and now after 5 years of “planning” it is her turn for a spokesmodel shoot all her own!  We love her in the close crop black and white photo above.  Here is another photo on the white background this time in a full length crop and in color:

Next we moved to the black for this one – she looks great!!!

Spokesmodel session with Annabel

The whole session was a bit surreal just because we were looking forward to this day for so long!  Here is a fun vine with a couple highlights of the day, including the graffiti shot which we had to trek through some seriously deep snow to get to – you can see how it’s almost up to her knees!  “Lean into the love” Annabel!!!  🙂

And here is one of the resulting photos with the graffiti wall – we love graffiti and we hope to get some more urban settings as the weather breaks (if it ever does) with our spokesmodels so stay tuned.  For now we hope you enjoyed these photos of Annabel!

“Part Two” – It’s Noah’s Turn!

We already posted “Part One” which was Kyla’s session, and now here is Kyla’s twin brother Noah getting his turn (with a return guest appearance by Kyla of course)!  🙂

With Noah we focused exclusively on studio work – he changed into a couple different outfits, we used a couple of different backdrops and Noah did a fine job!

Here’s a fun vine with a little behind-the-scenes action from the photo session!

…and a resulting picture from that series!

Next we moved to the grey backdrop.  This has become one of our favorite setups with a senior boy in suit and tie on the grey!  Very GQ – although most of our seniors have no idea what we are talking about when we mention GQ…  ha.  What a stud – Noah killed it with this pose!

Lastly, Kyla joined her twin brother for a return appearance for a really sweet photo together!  We love seeing these two together – they are really close and it shows in this photo!  Overall it was another fantastic session!

Ryan Is Ready!

While some people might be blah blah blah-ing about today’s youth on the heels of yesterday’s announcement that “selfie” was named Word Of The Year by the Oxford English Dictionary – that they are self-centered, shallow and whatever else the curmudgeons may say, our latest senior is the total opposite of all of that!  Ryan is the editor of the school newspaper, has his sights set high for college and beyond, and is an engaging and very impressive young man – much like plenty of the seniors we meet!  We love this generation and we love this guy!  He’s the perfect type of kid you would want as a representative of “today’s youth”!

High School Senior Picture

We had a great time with him and for this session the focus was on studio portraits.  We had a lot of fun with Ryan and his mom as well – she hung out for the session and even provided some coaching!  Haha!

Ryan was definitely “ready for his close up” and we would say that he is ready for life – Ryan is just plain READY! High School Senior PortraitHigh School Senior Portrait

On A Crisp Clear Fall Day You Can See… Alanah!

Alanah picked a perfectly beautiful day for her session – it was cold but the lighting and the location were perfect and we had a lot of fun.  We don’t want to embarrass her by saying this but when we met Alanah we thought she was really shy and quiet.  Alanah is another senior we have known for years and we photographed her brother two years ago, but it was not until she became a spokesmodel for us this past year that we really got to know her and discovered that once you get to know her she’s not shy at all!  She’s actually very outgoing and pretty funny!

High School Senior Picture

Her mom had the idea of having Alanah in a boat (you have to give credit where credit is due haha) and she had the perfect spot for us, so we went to the location first since we had great sunlight and an early morning start.  Getting the boat into the water provided a few laughs and the whole scene was pretty amusing as you can see in this vine…

…but it was worth it – the results are great!

High School Senior Portrait

We then got a few other spots and one of our favorite trees turned red earlier than we thought it would so that was a bonus!  We love the way this one turned out and Alanah looks stunning!

High School Senior Picture

We did all of Alanah’s spokesmodel shots in the studio earlier in the year so we didn’t plan to spend a ton of time indoors this time around but we still headed back to the studio to get a couple more and here’s a highlight from those.  We hope you have enjoyed these highlights from Alanah’s session a fraction as much as we enjoyed photographing them and getting to know this adorable young lady over the years!

Kyla Gets Her Day!

This is actually “part 1” of a two-part post since Kyla is a twin and her twin brother Noah will be coming soon as “part 2”.  We split up the sessions due to scheduling but Kyla will make an appearance in Noah’s session when we take a few photos of the two of them together.  We’re looking forward to that!

High School Senior Portrait

Meanwhile this day was all about Kyla and we were more than happy to focus on her for a few hours – what a sweetheart and totally adorable!  Kyla and Noah have another pair of twin brothers, so with Kyla being one girl to three boys it was fitting that she get her own day right?

We started in the studio with the black backdrop – no props save for just a black stool – simple and dramatic…

High School Senior Picture

Then we went outside on location and the conditions were perfect!  It’s been an unseasonably warm October which has been really nice for our seniors.

The backlight on Kyla’s hair was perfect and helped to make for some spectacular images!  We had a blast with Kyla and her mom – another great day with another great senior!  Take a look at a couple of these great shots in a meadow!  Enjoy!

Bees, Bridges, Bogs and a Beautiful Girl!

Emily is one of our class of 2014 spokesmodels so if you follow this blog or our studio on other sites you’ve probably seen her before.  Her spokesmodel session was photographed completely in the studio so for her senior session we spent the whole time outdoors.  We had a perfect day and this special senior deserved nothing less!

High School Senior Picture

Yes this session had everything including a little entertainment at my expense when I ran straight into a sign that was a few feet behind me as I avoided a bee.  Okay I’m a little bit of a wimp when it comes to bees… and ironically it turns out Emily and her mom are used to bees since they actually keep bees and they brought us some honey a few days after the session!  In keeping with the “B” theme we also photographed Emily in front of a “bog”…

High School Senior Portrait

…and on a bridge.  This was a new bridge that we weren’t aware of and we stumbled upon it on a trail during the session so for us it will now be forever referred to as Emily’s bridge (because that’s how we roll).

High School Senior Portrait

We had a great time and it’s been a true honor to have Emily represent us this year!
