A “Pitch Perfect” Session With William!

While the movie Pitch Perfect about the a cappella singing group has become very popular and quotable, for our session with William we are not talking about singing.  We are talking about a different kind of pitch – a soccer pitch!  “Pitch” in this case is another word for “field”, and yes we went to the pitch for a few shots for William’s senior session.  William is a great kid and he plays goalie for his high school team.  His mom came along for the session and we had a great day!  But our “goal” isn’t only to show you the photos at the soccer field – let’s start in the studio where we began our afternoon with William.

We are big fans of seniors wearing their letter jacket and showing that school spirit!  This was just a nice casual shot before we moved on to the more formal portrait.

Pitch Perfect

Now that’s a fine looking young man indeed!  You have been seeing a few of these formal shots with the guys lately on the grey background and you will continue to see them, well, because we just love the way they look!

At this point it was time to head out on location where we were able to work with a natural setting along with the soccer pitch – two different spots close by before the rain rolled in.  Here is our behind the scenes vine of the afternoon which even includes an action shot!

First a photo with the letter jacket in a natural setting.  It’s a close crop but the green in the background looks great.

And finally our goalie in a pitch perfect photo!

We Are Completely Mad For Maddy!

We are completely mad for Maddy!  We gush often about our seniors but there is a reason for it.  In Maddy’s case she just makes us smile – she is a total character and we mean that as a compliment.  She is so funny, even charmingly quirky if you will, and she is an accomplished ice skater – she just has a lot going for her!  Oh – and, well – you’ll see when you look at her – she is adorable.

We started in the studio where we focused first on the red background.  Keep in mind that Ally always photographs digitally in color.  But just for kicks let’s switch it up – I just got finished telling you how Maddy is a character and so funny and yet she pulled off a pensive and classically beautiful shot that we love converted to black and white…

Mad for Maddy

Next we moved to the black background and we focused on her skating accomplishments.  Maddy showed off her playful side for this fun shot with a bunch of her medals all around her!  The one in her right hand is her very first one and the one in her left hand is her most recent gold medal!

Mad for MaddyHere is our fun behind the scenes vine of the morning – plenty of laughter as you can see!  🙂

Next as you can see in the vine it was time to head outside.  This was still the week of extended forecasts of thunderstorms so this was another session that on location success  wasn’t a given, and while it was pretty humid it was still rain-free.  We were able to get a couple really nice shots here.  The first one is just nice and casual in shorts…

Mad for Maddy

…and this last one we’ll leave you with is so pretty – the dress, the pose, it all comes together.

Mad for Maddy

So yes we are now completely mad for Maddy after spending a morning with her (on Ally’s birthday no less) and we hope you enjoyed these photos!

Hanging Out With Mitchell (and Teddy) – a Boy and His Dog!

Hanging out with Mitchell (and Teddy) was really a great time!  It’s always fun when pets are included in a senior session and this was no exception.  Mitchell is a great guy – a personable and accomplished young man and his dog Teddy is not so bad either!  Let’s take a look…

We started off in the studio with a suit coat and dress shirt in front of the grey background.  We usually like at least one formal look like this one for the guys and Mitchell has a cool confidence that comes through in this photo.

Hanging Out With Mitchell

Then we headed out on location – in this case to Mitchell’s house where we met Teddy, Mitchell’s pup and Mitchell’s delightful mom hung out with us as well.  Teddy was pretty funny sprinting around in circles and generally having a blast of a time!  There were a few really nice textures and backgrounds for us to work with there and Mitchell did a great job.

Twin High School Spokesmodels Claire And Ethan!

We have photographed several pairs of twins for high school senior pictures and every single time it has been memorable!  This is the first time we have had twins representing our studio as spokesmodels and we are so pleased to have Ethan and Claire on board.  What a couple of outstanding kids.  A twin session obviously takes longer than an individual, but it didn’t really feel like it – time flies when you are having fun!High School Senior Pictures

Their spokesmodel shoot had a little of everything including Maggie – their pup!  She was a well behaved doggy and she was ready for her closeup as you can see.High School Senior Pictures

As you will see in this fun vine below from the session we got a chuckle out of the fact that the standard dog emoji on the iPhone actually looks like Maggie too…

A Fun Jaunt With Jordyn!

Wow!  Jordyn’s session was a special one – she looked gorgeous, the weather was perfect and the results…. well they speak for themselves!

High School Senior Picture

We started out with some studio work in front of the black backdrop and if you follow our blog you are probably familiar with the “black and blowy” look which we love – very dramatic…

High School Senior Picture

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes vine of this set up with Jordyn!

There were a lot of laughs on this shoot – there was a donut run in the middle (or was that not you? – sorry – inside joke from the session…) and Reflecto was in rare form and even cooperated with Aaron the intern.  Finally we arrived on location where the lighting, the scenery, and the senior were all perfect!  Enjoy!

Stretching The Limits In Stunning Fashion!

Emily is one of our faves – she’s beautiful, really funny and really sweet!  She has represented our studio this year as a spokesmodel and we’ve really enjoyed getting to know her.  We were really excited for her session and looking forward to it after we met for her consultation and then…… something happened.

We entered her date and time into our software but somehow neither of us managed to forward it into our iCals.  Eeek!  I can’t say that we’ve ever made a mistake like that.  As a result we were caught off guard and frankly quite mortified at our error when Emily arrived.  Fortunately we have safeguards in place that kept us from scheduling anything else during her time slot and so we were fine to shoot (thank goodness)!  As we say every session has a story right?

Meanwhile – what a session!!!  We took plenty of extra time (we wanted to make up for our mistake sure but selfishly we would photograph this girl all day long) and used some off-camera flash on an empty street and the results were spectacular – awesome girl, awesome sky, awesome shot!  Shooting well into the evening, stretching the limits in stunning fashion!

Twin Seniors Are Twice As Nice!

What a special pair of siblings!  We loved spending time with these two – such nice and personable kids.

When we photograph twins we set aside enough time to photograph each of them individually as well as together and these two clearly enjoy being together!  Instead of going in the order of the session let’s go age before beauty…… by about 15 minutes (haha) and start with Jason – a charming and handsome young lad!  🙂

Now let’s take a look at a few images of beautiful and sweet sis Susie!

Here is where it gets fun – the two of them together!  Adorable!

There’s Something About Zoe

Not sure what we can say about this girl without sounding like we’re going overboard, but let’s just say we are huge fans of Zoe!  She is just the sweetest – funny, personable and downright radiant!

High School Senior Picture

Picking just four images to highlight from this session was a difficult task to be sure.  🙂

Text message indecision

We like to put four pictures in these posts and we try to get a good mix which is what I did but I could have easily picked any of them out of a hat.  They were all great!  🙂

This was a morning shoot and after meeting at the studio we headed out together on location.  It got hot out pretty early but the light was perfect and we had a great time!

We then returned to the studio to finish up where we photographed Zoe on the black backdrop with the fan – one of our favorite setups!  Gorgeous!  All in all a fantastic session!

Kevin’s Time

Mother Nature was our friend on this day for sure – we had this session with Kevin scheduled for the morning and when we woke up there was a steady rain outside…

So we started in the studio and worked the water polo angle since Kevin is the captain of his team – for those of you who may not know much about water polo it’s a tough sport – personally I may have played football but I’ve got mad respect for anyone who can handle hand to hand combat, skill and finesse at the same time in a pool!  Talk about needing to be in shape…

High School Senior Portrait

Meanwhile the weather magically cleared up and we headed out.  We got some great shots outside after all so it really was Kevin’s time!  Enjoy!

Class of 2014 Spokesmodel Party!

This year’s third annual spokesmodel party was a blast!  It’s definitely one of our favorite days of the year and the culmination of the planning, photographing, and getting to know our newest team!  Some of them we’ve known for years and some we’re just getting to know.  We’ve become very fond of each and every one of these seniors-to-be and to have them all at the studio wearing their Frameable Faces T-Shirts and hanging together is as good as it gets for us!

Our awesome team!

Just like last year we began the festivities with the debut of the new spokesmodel video with behind the scenes clips from the photo sessions and even a fun outtake at the end:

We then had dinner, and this year we had it catered by Pine Lake Market in Keego Harbor – the food was fantastic!  Then in keeping with tradition we ate Just Baked cupcakes.  Soooo good.

Our Just Baked Cupcakes!

Then we took some photos.  Everyone had picked up their t-shirts and spokesmodel cards which were laid out on the table when they arrived, and we took some team pictures first.

Frameable Faces Spokesmodel Swag!

Then it was everyone’s turn to do individual shots for the mural that goes in our window for the upcoming year which is always a lot of fun.  Look for that in about a month in our window and on Facebook.  There are actually some traditions within the murals emerging – like who will be the “jumpy girl”, who will be eating a Just Baked cupcake, which boy will be flexing his muscles, and who will do something that has not been done before?

All in all it was a great night and as we’ve said before, a great group of kids.
