Cami Was CAMI-RA Ready In An Epic Senior Session in Detroit!

Cami was certainly “CAMI-RA ready” for her senior session takeover of Detroit!  We’re very punny here at Frameable Faces.  This was an epic session not like any before it and you’ll see why in a bit.  Meanwhile let’s talk about Cami.  We’ve known this girl for a long time and we actually photographed her brother Kyle for his senior pictures, but our relationship with Cami goes way back before that when a party favor from a Cami birthday party in the form of a music CD mix became the standard in the Cohen mini van for a good chunk of our kids childhoods!  The “Cami Disc” was awesome!  We still talk about it from over a decade ago…  We’ve known Cami since she was 3 and she and our Lacey were in dance class together at Studio A the year it opened, so this girl has always had a special place in our hearts.  She’s got it together too – she plans to be a nurse!  We really had an amazing day with her and her mom Bonnie!

Cami was CAMI-RA Ready…

We started in the studio for a couple of quick photos with the plan to spend the majority of our time downtown.  Here’s one on the black background before we head out on location…

Cami

Definitely Cami-Ra ready!  She looks fantastic!

Of course we have plenty of behind the scenes fun and here is the replay of the first Facebook Live broadcast from the studio!

Heading to Detroit!

At this point we packed up and headed downtown for what was supposed to be a trip to Belle Isle and then maybe Eastern Market for some murals and whatever else we might find… well that didn’t happen.  Okay well Belle Isle happened – and we love this red bridge there!

Cami

Beautiful!  The lighting was great even if it was a little chilly…

Meanwhile there would be no Eastern Market for us on this day…  Instead Ally had seen one of our clients post a few pics of an old theater downtown that is now a parking garage – the Michigan Building.  It’s like a post-apocalyptic scene in there and Ally thought this would be a cool spot – Cami was sold immediately so we went down there, and WOW.  Ally’s jaw hit the floor when we walked in – so cool!

Here’s the behind the scenes broadcast from Periscope.  You can follow us there at @FrameableFaces at this link or see our broadcasts on Twitter here

Here’s one of our results from the theater…

Cami

The first shot of its kind for us but certainly not the last…

We were enamored enough with the place that we broadcasted once more on Facebook Live where you’ll see how we improvised with our minivan headlights (shout out to Bonnie for working the lighting from the cockpit lol) as we started to lose some light and the last shot we’ll leave you with came out really cool…

And here is one of the photos from that setup:

Cami

Love it!!!  Yes Cami was Cami-ra ready and we were ready to make some magic which we did on her pioneering session!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day, and we’ll leave you with the Snapchat story from the day complete with the squad selfie at the end!

All In With Alena As She Represents Our Studio For The Class of 2018!

Yes we are all in with the idea of Alena representing our studio as a spokesmodel for the high school class of 2018!  She’s another North Farmington Raider and her mom Mindy was a Raider too just like us!  Her dad Loren is a Buckeye but it’s okay….. we still like him (haha).  Mindy and I go way back having grown up in the same neighborhood and I’ve always been a fan of hers so it’s really great to have this family in the fold!  Good people!

Alena and our Lacey are friends as well and when we met for Alena’s consultation we knew right away that this was going to be fun and we were right.  This session was fantastic – it was all in the studio and we played around with multiple backgrounds and colors.  Red hair is always fun to put on different backdrops and I swear we have had well above the 1-2% of the population average of redheads here at the studio!  Needless to say Alena upheld the tradition in fine style, and with that said let’s get to the photos!

All In With Alena

We started on the blue/grey backdrop to kick it off…

Alena

Wow!  Yeah Alena looks great and this session rocked…

We also have plenty of behind the scenes fun as always starting with the replay of our live Periscope broadcast – you can follow us on the app and join in the fun at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can just check the channel out on twitter here.

The next backdrop / wardrobe change we have to share is Alena in all black against the rich purple paper backdrop with the dark wood floor – it’s a winner with this playful pose!

Alena

Here is the Facebook Live replay where we were shooting on the purple – how fun is this girl by the way?  You’ll see in the broadcast!

This next shot is amazing – this patterned backdrop is just perfect with Alena’s hair – we love this…

Alena

And let’s leave you with one more black and white full length stunner on the white backdrop…

Alena

And there you have it – you can see why we’re all in with Alena – we are thrilled to have her represent our studio at North Farmington for our amazing class of 2018 spokesmodel crew!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights and we’ll leave you with our snap story from the day from our YouTube channel…

Come See Why We Care-A ‘Bout Cara With Her Spokesmodel Session!

Yes we care-a ’bout Cara and we have for a few years now!!!  She’s a legacy spokesmodel – technically her brother Ben is still a spokesmodel for the current class of 2017 while Cara is representing us for the upcoming class of 2018!  It’s funny because while Ben and our Lacey are really close friends, Cara and our Tony claim they are the “better version” of Ben and Lacey….  haha!

As for Cara herself this is a girl with great style and she is a total sweetheart!  We’re pretty excited to have her as we continue to gush about our new crew – it just gets better and better with each spokesmodel session.  With Cara we stayed in the studio and kept it pretty simple, and while we love all the results we’re particularly excited about how Cara looks on the damask background in the black and white outfit she wore for it.  But we’ll get to that in a bit – for now let’s start on the black background…

We Care-A ‘Bout Cara…

The criss cross applesauce on the stool is so fun – it’s a great way to kick this off!

Bout Cara

Of course we also have plenty of behind the scenes fun for you starting with the replay of our Periscope live broadcast – you can download the app and be part of the fun on your mobile or desktop at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can just watch from Twitter here.

Moving right along we have this super pretty three quarter length photo of our girl… this would also be a good time to give a shout out to Jessica Quinn for hair and makeup at Salon Matisse – great work! Bout Cara

…and one more in this fun outfit that is ALL Cara in the crouching pose… super fun and super cool:

Bout Cara

Before we get to the damask sneak peak let’s go back to the live behind the scenes action this time with the replay of our Facebook Live broadcast:

And here is the result!!!!

Bout Cara

Love it!  She looks beautiful!

We’ll leave you with our fun Snapchat story….

And there you have it!  You can see that we really care-a ’bout Cara and we can’t wait to get her back in here for her senior pics later this year!  Meanwhile don’t forget to sign up for our fun weekly email newsletter by clicking here!

Charity Channels Her Inner Charm For Her Champion Senior Session!

Inner charm, outer beauty, inner beauty, outer charm – all of it – Charity channels it!  Charity is another North Farmington Raider which is always a bonus for us as fellow Raider alums and we had a fantastic session with her!  Charity had to be a champ because it was chilly out – really chilly (how many words can Doug squeeze into this blog post that begin with “ch”?).  But she stuck it out and delivered some pure awesomeness in Pontiac for some city shots before we made it back to the warm confines of the studio…  Let’s get to it!

Charity Channels Her Inner Charm…

Charity is a sweetie and a dancer too so she’s got a lot going for her.  Her mom Caren joined us as we headed out on location.  First we have this photo on the fire escape…

Charity Channels

Love this because her outfit blends right in with the colors around her for one thing, and she just looks happy and great all the way around.  We actually have plenty of behind the scenes to share as well, and we’ll start with the replay of the Periscope live broadcast.  You can download the app and be part of the fun at @FrameableFaces at this link or you can also just watch from twitter here.

I have to mention that there is an amazing moment on this broadcast where Caren got very emotional watching her girl have her senior pictures taken and like a reporter I took a risk and ran over to catch it and ask her how she was doing – it was a good cry and so sweet!  Caren was great sport about it too!

Awww…..

At this point we relocated for a wardrobe change to another spot on a different set of steps and had some great backlight going for this one.

Charity Channels

That lighting and that smile!

You would never know we were pretty cold by the results…. and at this point it was time to get back to the studio.

First we have a close up of our girl on the red paper backdrop which is one of our faves for sure.

Charity Channels

We also have more behind the scenes fun this time from the replay of our Facebook Live broadcast!

Here’s a dramatic black and white version of our “black and blowy” setup that we are in love with…

Charity Channels

And we’ll end it with the Snapchat story we posted that day – you should be following us there too!  Snap us back!

So there you have it!  When Charity channels her inner charm it comes through with wonderful outer results!  We hope you enjoyed our highlights from our day with her!

Emily Emits Spokesmodeling Excellence For The Class of 2018!

Emily is our first North Farmington Raider of this upcoming class, and as we expect from Raiders she emits excellence – spokesmodeling excellence and plenty of other kinds too!  She plays the oboe, and she’s involved in a couple of organizations – smart, funny, talented, beautiful – a multiple threat!  We haven’t known Emily long, but we became instant fans when she first came to the studio for our meeting – of her and her mom Jennifer – and we are thrilled to have Emily representing the studio!

Spokesmodeling Excellence…

This session was entirely in the studio as the rain was falling outside, and we love these.  For the spokesmodel sessions there is no pressure to go outside and we can try out some new things in the friendly confines of the Frameable Faces studio!  We started out with the black background for this one…

Spokesmodeling Excellence

Such elegance – she looks fantastic!

We also have plenty of behind the scenes footage from the day starting with the replay of our Periscope broadcast.  You can follow us and join in the fun of future broadcasts by getting the app and following us at @frameablefaces here or you can just watch from Twitter!

Next we went with the simple clean white background which is always a winner for this relaxed close up of our girl…

Spokesmodeling Excellence

Spokesmodeling excellence indeed…

Next we broke out the red paper backdrop which we love for its richness and we captured a candid and playful Emily here…  so fun!

Spokesmodeling Excellence

Emily Emits…

At this point we broke out the metal which emits a little reflection of its own, but Emily clearly overpowered it for this next series and we experimented a little here – different angles for a couple of the shots, we flipped over the floor mats to give a stark black floor to add to the industrial look and we added a filter to the finished product – this setup will be known as “The Emily” going forward and here is some of the behind the scenes from the Facebook Live broadcast.  As you’ll see things started getting “crazy” at this point!  We had double broadcasts going as Emily was live with her own peeps on Instagram and Jennifer was directing some poses for Emily – we had a blast!

LOVE this result….

Spokesmodeling Excellence

We’ll leave you with the Snapchat story of the session which we have posted on our YouTube channel….  fun!

And there you have it!  Emily clearly emitted spokesmodeling excellence on this day, and we cannot wait to get her back into the studio for her senior pictures later this year!  Love her!  We hope you are enjoying the continuing highlights of our amazing crew for the upcoming class of 2018!

Sami Spokesmodels and Slays At A Splendid New Spot!

Here we go moving right along with the upcoming class of 2018 as Sami spokesmodels and slays!  We are pretty excited for Sami as we are with all of the members of our new crew so far, and with this session we are particularly excited because we ventured out to a new location we’ve never been to and boy was it worth it!  Ally had the idea to give Mill Race Park a try in Commerce, and what a cool spot!  The Huron River, trails, a bridge, a covered bridge, graffiti – this park has it all, and all the features are in close proximity to each other.  A real gem!

Speaking of gems, Sami is surely one herself.  We’ve known Sami for a few years as well as her mom and dad and she is a real sweetheart – everyone has nothing but the nicest things to say about Sami!  She’s not only sweet and adorable either – she’s on debate team, Peer Corps, and she dances too!  She looked beautiful and the weather was crazy warm – 60 degrees on February 23rd!!!  And yes – that was yesterday as of this writing!  Ally was pretty excited to go through these and she grabbed 4 to edit so we could rush this out onto the blog and send out in our weekly Friday newsletter which you can sign up for here.  So with a quick shout out to the girls at Mandy Rose Studio for Sami’s makeup and hair let’s get to the location shots where Sami spokesmodels and slays shall we?

Sami Spokesmodels and Slays….

So the first landmark we came across was this cool bridge and that’s where we started:

Sami Spokesmodels

Love it!

We also have plenty of behind the scenes fun from the session for you to check out.  First the replay of our live Periscope broadcast – you can join us on Periscope to be a part of our broadcasts here or you can just follow and watch from twitter as well!

There are some great remains from the Commerce Roller Mill which dates back to the 1840’s so we played around with them for some shots – here’s one…

Sami Spokesmodels

When we were researching this location there was mention on the website of a covered bridge so we (Sami actually) found it and we fired up another Facebook Live broadcast…

…..and here is a resulting photo from the bridge!  “Sami’s bridge” going forward since she pioneered it which is how we roll here at Frameable Faces.  Actually the whole park is Sami’s…. lol.

Sami Spokesmodels

How cute is she?

Okay now we have one more shot to share – Ally loves this one of Sami just being adorable looking over her shoulder with more ruins in the background…

Sami Spokesmodels

We also did a few shots in the studio and you take a look at the behind the scenes fun below!  Sami will ultimately be able to share some of these on her own but we wanted to focus on the location for this post since it was a new spot for us!

We’ll finish it off with the Snapchat story we posted from the session – be sure to follow us there too!

So there you have it!  We now know when Sami spokesmodels it’s surely something special and we hope you enjoyed the highlights of our day with her!  She’ll be back on this blog and in the window of our studio – we’re not through with her yet!!!  Lol!

Special Delivery: Newborn Aubrey’s Arrival Is Truly Awesome!

This was truly a special delivery in more ways than one.  You may recall our “Nikon Girl” Angela’s maternity session here on the blog, and if you’ve been following her story you may already know that Ally was there to photograph the birth of Angela and Cam’s beautiful baby girl Aubrey…  here is the photo essay from our YouTube channel from that amazing day:

6 days later marked Aubrey’s arrival in the studio for her newborn session and it was so special!  We have a few highlights to share!

Special Delivery: Aubrey’s Arrival!

Aubrey was a pro – what do you expect?  She’s the daughter of an amazing photographer!  Lots of pink….  let’s take a look:

Special Delivery

So peaceful – just snoozin’ in the basket…

We also have plenty of behind the scenes from the session – first with the replay of our Facebook Live broadcast:

Now let’s take a look at a couple more shots including one more in the basket…

Special Delivery

At this point we changed gears and broke out the pink tutu.  Aubrey did plenty more sleeping which is perfect for a newborn session!  This next photo is a little tricky and requires a couple shots to composite together – it turned out perfectly!

Special Delivery

We also have another live broadcast to share – this time from our show that we do on ParachuteTV1 on Tuesday afternoons at 2 PM EST called “The Photo Shop” on Periscope.  You can follow us on Periscope at @FrameableFaces at this link, or you can (and should) check out the ParachuteTV1 schedule on Periscope at their website – it’s a very cool network with some great shows!

Here we caught a newborn “baby smile” – how precious!!!  We’ll leave you with this one…

Special Delivery

And there you have it – a special delivery indeed and we love miss Aubrey already!!!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights of her debut!

KICKING OFF Class of 2018 Spokesmodels with Olivia! BEAUTY & BEAST!

When we say we’re kicking off our class of 2018 spokesmodels we actually mean we’re kicking it off!  With a kicker – a female kicker!  We are thrilled to have Olivia representing our studio and this is always an exciting time for us as we start to look towards the upcoming senior class which we’ll start photographing in earnest this summer.  Some our favorite people of all time and very close friends started out as spokesmodels going all the way back to the graduating class of 2009 and we’ve already become fast friends with Olivia and her mom Liz.  But first let’s back up a bit to the fall of 2015 in the bleachers of Bloomfield Hills High School…

“Check It Out!  How Cool Is That?”

Our son Tony plays football at BHHS and when he first went out for the team as a freshman we were at one of his games sitting in the bleachers.  The freshman team was down on the field and they play before the JV so the JV came up into the bleachers to wait and watch until their turn came.  Ally being a nervous mom saw the size of some of the sophomores walking past and then….Olivia comes walking by in her pads and Ally and I said to each other “Check it out!  How cute is she?  And how COOL is that?”  There were no girls on the football team to speak of back in our day.  You see it more now but it’s still not that common and we think you need to be a pretty cool girl to be able to hang on a team of guys, and be a kicker where all eyes are on you every time you take the field to begin with!

Needless to say our wheels started turning back then as they often do when we’re on the lookout for spokesmodels.  So flash forward to the varsity banquet at the end of Tony’s JV season a couple months ago and there is Olivia looking stunning, so we texted a couple people during dinner to ask about Olivia and we were given the thumbs up.  Ally makes a break for it.  So creepy right?  Like, “we’ve had our eye on you for years and we want you to be a spokesmodel for our studio”!!!  Haha!  But we still had to see if she was actually interested, meet her and her mom at the studio and make sure it was a fit for everyone.  So sure enough Olivia called and said she would be interested and when she and Liz arrived we fell in love with them immediately.  Such sweethearts both of them!!!

Kicking Off With Olivia…

While we may be kicking off the proceedings we should also mention that Olivia plays lacrosse and she’s nice and she’s smart – she’s the whole package.  But before we get to the beast part we started off with the beauty part of the session….  First we’ll share this one on the brown backdrop – we find the brown to be a great option to go with pink – a good color combo for this year.

Kicking Off

We actually played around with a few different backdrops and combinations as we usually do with our spokesmodels and you can see some of the behind the scenes fun here…  Let’s start with the replay of our Snapchat story from the day which ends with the “squad selfie”!  🙂

Next we have the replay of our live Periscope broadcast – if you aren’t following us on Periscope and want to join in the fun and be a part of our shows download the app and follow us at @frameablefaces, or you can watch from your browser and/or on Twitter too!

Now let’s take a look at some of the photos we did on the black backdrop.  First we have this relaxed and fun shot on our black couch – black on black anything looks cool when it’s lit properly and we are looking forward to more of our black couch which is still a relatively new addition here on the black background.

Kicking Off

Plenty of Beauty right?  Now time for beast…

What’s fun about these next couple of shots is that it was actually hard to get Olivia to keep a straight face, because as much of a bad ass as she is, she’s actually very humble and sweet and she was giggling.  Haha!

Kicking Off

How awesome is that shot???  The football / lacrosse mashup!

Let’s take another look at some behind the scenes fun with more live video this time from Facebook Live:

And now one more lit photo in beast mode….

Kicking Off

AWESOME!  What a way to be kicking off the class of 2018 spokesmodel sessions!  Much more to come from our new crew which is starting to shape up to be a very strong class!  We hope you enjoyed the highlights from our time with Olivia!  Stay tuned….

The Photo Restoration Project – A Polish Wedding Over 100 Years Old!

Polish Wedding

One of the most rewarding aspects of our business is that we get to help people reclaim their family history by restoring damaged photos.  We’ve taken it to a new level with The Frameable Faces Restoration Project where we encourage people to share their stories with us and with our community!  Lisa was referred to us by a mutual photographer friend Heather in Georgia who saw us discussing photo restoration on Periscope.  That’s part of the beauty of this – we can help people restore photos from any corner of the world especially if they have a scanner – in this case a Polish wedding over 100 years old!  In Lisa’s case the photo she had didn’t fit on her scanner so she had to scan it in two parts.  I just laid them over the top of each other on my Mac and took a screen shot so you can see the whole original in one shot for the purposes of this article – that’s why you see the line of separation towards the left of the photo to go with all the crumbling pieces around the edges because this photo was in bad shape.  Luckily the main image of Lisa’s great grandparents was intact!  Sometimes if significant pieces of the main image are missing the photo can still be restored but it’s a little more work.

Polish Wedding

A Polish Wedding Over 100 Years Old!

We asked Lisa to share the story of this photo and she did!

FF: Tell us a little of the story of this photo and the people in it.

Lisa: This is a wedding photo of my mother’s maternal grandparents, Anthony and Maria.  They came to America from Poland, and it is assumed that the picture was taken in Poland over 100 years ago.  My mom has had it for quite a while and every time it is taken out it seems like another corner or small piece would fall off.

FF: Tell us what you know about the photo itself – Who took the photo?  Where was this photo stored?  Was it recently found?

Lisa: We do not know who took the photo, or much about the moment it was taken. It was stored by my grandmother in a drawer for years and then went to my mother when she cleaned out my grandmother’s home.  The gentleman in the picture, Anthony, was my mother’s grandfather.  She did not know her grandmother, as she died before my mother was born.  Anthony lived with her family on and off during her childhood and only spoke Polish.  My mom has old wedding photos of many family members (each of Anthony and Maria’s 3 children) and all are in good condition.  When showing this photo to a cousin (child of Anthony’s brother) a corner snapped off.  After that it began to deteriorate each time it was handled. Given the sentimental value, my mom asked to have this photo restored as a Christmas present to preserve it for future generations.

FF: What are you planning to do with the photo now that it’s been restored?  What has the restoration of this photo meant to you?

Lisa: My mom loved the finished product!  It is on display in her living room.  She cherishes the memories as she was only 9 when her grandfather passed away.  She particularly liked that the restoration was printed with a sturdy backing instead of plain paper.  The majority of larger photos she has from this time were also printed with backing as opposed to paper.

*Note – we restored this photo, printed it as an 11×14 per Lisa’s request and shipped it to her.  All photos we print as 11×14 and larger are mounted on a sturdy backing as Lisa mentioned.

Polish Wedding

Maria and Anthony – restored

We hope you enjoyed Lisa’s story and we hope you will join us!  Help us help you restore and reclaim your history!
