We Are Posting This ‘Cuz We Love Photographing Cousins!

It is so nice when cousins are around the same age and enjoy hanging around with each other, and it makes photographing cousins a joy!  This was definitely the case with the crew we’re about to show you.  We have had half of them (the local half) in the studio before around Halloween time for photos, but the other half live out of town so we hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting them before.  They are a beautiful bunch and they belong to one of our mall neighbors – they are Nancy’s grandchildren from across the hall at Nancy’s Linens!  And talk about prepared kids….they were coordinated nicely with the clothes and they had plenty to say about what photos and poses they had planned for their photo session!  There was even a written out list involved!

We did this session on location at the house of the “local crew” and we did a few rounds of individual photos, sibling group shots and group shots of the whole squad!  The conditions were just perfect that morning for a photo session.  Let’s start with the siblings…

The goal here was to have some fun and not get too formal – just to get some photos of kids being kids and cousins being cousins and the swing set was a perfect prop to get everyone into place!  We love this last one we’ll leave you with with the youngest of the group on the oldest’s shoulders….  Everyone looks fantastic!

Excitement For Elona’s Return to the Studio With Her Mom and Dad!

You have probably seen the canvas of the beautiful little dancer on the wall by my desk in the studio if you’ve spent time here at Frameable Faces.  That’s Elona – one of our favorite little cuties in Frameable Faces history!  We love when she comes by to visit every now and then – she is one of the brightest kids we know and she never ceases to surprise me with her insights every time we have a conversation.  So when we got the call that she would be coming to the studio for a photo session we got very excited indeed!  She is always a delight to photograph!

We love Elona’s mom Harolyn and her dad Ulrich – they’re awesome and we’ve photographed all of them before so we knew this would be great.  Let’s start first with just Elona being Elona!

Let’s Take A Look-a At A Handsome Little Guy Named Luca!

Luca is a handsome little guy and he’s a total character!  He’s smart as a whip and has no problem asking questions and challenging the answers!  We had him here for a photo shoot and he delivered a ton of personality.  Several different styles and a ton of different expressions!  Gotta love it.  This kid has a bright future and we think you’ll get a kick out of these highlights of his session!

This session took place completely in the studio and his mom Karen was here to help out.  She brought him for the initial consultation as well so we were looking forward to this.  We started out with a casual look on the black background.

Little Man Anthony Was A Total Rockstar For His Session!

Little Man Anthony was here and he certainly left an impression – he was so easy to work with!  Sometimes 2 years old can be a challenging age to photograph – in theory…  I do have to say though that while some do better than others Ally is usually pretty darn good getting them to cooperate.  She has the magic touch.  Having said that, with Anthony the magic touch wasn’t even really needed.  He was really good.   He came to the studio with his mommy and his Uncles and they were a big help too.

We should also mention what a sweetheart his mom Anita is and she is expecting so Anthony is going to be a big brother soon!  So exciting!

So this session was all in the studio but we did use a couple different backdrops and clothing changes.  Let’s start with a close up of our guy:

A Sunday In New York City With Mac and Nina!

We recently took an amazing whirlwind trip to New York City where we saw cousins, a bunch of old friends, a bunch of new Periscope friends, and U2 with an appearance by Lady Gaga at Madison Square Garden!  We saw some amazing sights ate some amazing food and did the town in the way that only New York allows you to do it.

Big City But With Little Simple Pleasures…

As magnificent as the city is though the greatest pleasures of a trip like that can still come down to spending some time with little ones like Mac and Nina which is something you don’t need a big city to do.  Mac has been on our blog before with his parents who are close friends of ours, but at that time Nina wasn’t around yet, so here Mac makes his return and Nina makes her debut!  We spent some time in the courtyard of their apartment building in the city for these simple and oh so cute photos and we think you’ll enjoy them!

Two Little Rock Star Brothers (and their mommy)!

Photographing brothers at four and two years old in theory can be an adventure, and these two rambunctious rock stars were anything but boring!  They were total hams and they had us cracking up.  Alternately having fun with each other, fighting, smiling, running, and touching stuff – so in other words basically they’re perfect.  Ha – you’ll see that in the end they totally rocked it and they are just gorgeous kids!

We went for the simple casual look with jeans and white t-shirts for the most part and their mom jumped in for a few really cute photos as well.

How awesome are they?  They were dancing and rocking out to the “gummy bear song” and various versions of the gummy bear song for most of the session.  It was quite hilarious, and let’s look at the behind the scenes vine of our time together while we’re at it – love this:

Some Brotherly Love and Some Birthday Cake!

Some brotherly love, some birthday cake and some general yumminess on multiple levels happened here at the studio when these two showed up that’s for sure.  What great kids!  The age gap between these two brothers was enough that having big brother here was basically like having an assistant for little brother’s first birthday photos.  A first birthday is always a great occasion for a photo shoot and a little birthday cake too, but we’ll get to the cake in a bit.

For now let’s focus in closely on these two by themselves.  They came in with their mom who is a doll and they both totally nailed the poses and the smiles – total pros!  Let’s start with our one year old.

We love these two shots in black and white – they just go together nicely.  These two were having fun (as were we) as you can see in our behind the scenes vine of the morning:

Then it was time to break out the birthday cake.  Sometimes our one year olds need a minute to process that this big cake is sitting in front of them for them to dive into all by themselves, so big brother jumped in to provide a little help.  As I mentioned before he was great – he just knew what to do and he really loves his little brother!

We Heart This Little Guy And His Parents!

Ally is always fond of saying “I heart so and so” and this should be obvious but that means she loves them…  haha!  Well this is a case where we really “heart” this little guy – not only because we love him but we really did “heart” him!  You’ll see what we mean in a bit…  Meanwhile his parents are a delight and they just really fit in here – we totally clicked.

Baby Neil is only 4 months old and already he’s so smart, so alert, so smiley, and has such a nice and mellow disposition.  We got going with him with a handmade quilt that a friend made for them for starters that he was peeking out from – so cute!

We Heart This Little GuySee what we mean?  Smushy and smiley.  We love that shot!  Next we used a really nice green traditional Indian scarf for this photo.

A little mid session snooze is always welcome!  At 4 months it’s nice if they happen to fall asleep because you can get some really cute sleeping baby poses and you can pose them how you like!  So while we were “hearting” the little man it was now time to “heart” him for real – with heart pillows and baby kisses all over him!

United This Family Stands….and Smiles, and Hugs!

This beautiful family came to the studio recently for a photo session and they were a pleasure to be with.  One of the kids was slightly under the weather, but I won’t even reveal which one because the kid was a total trooper and you would never know which one it was!  Meanwhile everyone got along and picked each other up, made each other laugh and generally had a good time, so yes we can definitely say that united this family stands….and smiles, and hugs!

We stayed with the black background for this session which always works well.  Our primary goal to start out with was to get a classic family shot to be displayed on canvas for the wall above the fireplace, so often we try to make the most important shot the first shot.  We had several to choose from but this one is the winner…

What a stunning family right?  Next we spent some time on just the kids, individually as well as some group shots and that’s where we captured one of Ally’s favorite family poses – the family hug!  See what I did there?  You knew that was coming from the blog title….  ha!

A Frameable Fun Fall Session With A Family Of Three!

We have been buried in seniors from the class of 2015 lately which we love, but a frameable fun fall session with a family of three was a nice change of pace especially at the height of fall colors!  What a fun couple with what Ally would refer to as a squishy yummy little boy named Josh.  Josh gave us great smiles and we had much fun!

We went to one of our go-to spots in a neighborhood close by and the conditions were just right!  There are trees and bridges and just a lot to work with there.  We started with the bridge:

How cute is the little man?  Cute enough that we moved on to working on some solo shots to give him the spotlight and Ally captured this sweet photo of Josh just being a happy little boy sitting in the leaves…

Next we looked to get a few more family shots under a tree filled with and surrounded by pretty yellow and orange leaves – it was a great spot which gave us some great results!

Love the interaction here of the three of them just being a family.  And we have a little of this on our fun behind the scenes vine of the morning!  You’ll see here that when we went back to the house afterwards to try to get a few more with the dogs that Ally got a little surprise…  haha!

As mentioned in the vine this part of the session with the dogs was a bit more challenging but we did get one last family shot on the deck that we’ll share here!
